Wednesday Sep 26

Stretching 15:00 [1]
slept:8.0 weight:167lbs
Not quite the 9-10 hours I was hoping for, but maybe enough.

Ankle felt pretty good while stretch. No more pain while pulling foot up behind the glute (stretching the quads). But a little stiff while running.
Run 44:34 [3] 5.5 mi (8:06 / mi) +150m 4:39 / km
slept:8.0 weight:167lbs shoes: ASICS
Nothing so exciting as gunfire on my route this morning. Just the routine crowd of women with strollers and dogs.

Well actually, there was this little tiny mop of a dog that looked like it was sizing up my ankle as a potential doggie treat. Barking at it loudly a couple of times altered it's thinking....

Cycling (MTB on the road) 45:00 [3]

Tuesday Sep 25

Note
slept:6.5 weight:167lbs
Again, not enough sleep. Laura got up early to work-out and I couldn't go back to sleep. Brain started working on all the stuff I need to do be ready to leave on thursday....
Stretching 10:00 [1]
slept:6.5 weight:167lbs
Strength (weights - Cybex) 30:00 [3]
shoes: ASICS
Quick tour around the machines at about 90% of usual weights. Don't want to strain anything this close to race day...
Swimming 15:00 [3] 0.6 km (25:00 / km)
Would have done more, but it was time for the guards to switch the lanes around. 'L' shaped pool. A 9AM they open up the shallow end for swimming aerobics classes.

Sat in the steam room before swimming.
Hot tub after.
Note
Checkpoint Tracker site for the Berryman Adventure.....

There are a lot of really good teams signed up for this race. I haven't really counted, but I'm guessing maybe as many as a dozen that could be competing for first place. Usually, there's only two or three.

Our goal is to finish the course in regulation.

Walking 30:00 [2] 1.5 mi (20:00 / mi)
Hey! It's a nice evening out tonight. Last 2 weeks have been warm and humid. Cool front must have gone through after I was out cleaning up my bike and getting eaten alive by mosquitos @ 7. But we haven't gotten any of the much needed rain that was predicted.

Monday Sep 24

Stretching 15:00 [1]
slept:6.5 weight:167lbs
Not nearly enough sleep last night, but feeling much better today. Maybe 75-80%.
Paddling 3:00:00 [3] 13 km (13:51 / km)
slept:6.5 weight:167lbs
Castlewood. Almost up to the rail bridge. No portages today so a couple of stretches of intensity 5.
C • good catch! i guess 3 hours... 11

Sunday Sep 23

Note
slept:9.0 (sick)

3 consecutive nights of 'lots of sleep' , chx soup, vit c, cold-eeze seem to be paying off. I still feel wiped out, but on the mend. If it stays out of the lungs I should be ok for the race.

Didn't have time to try an easy ride yesterday.... airport, kids soccer game, shopping, and then a 4PM wedding.

BTW, if you're going near the airport, WB I-70 is down to 1 lane at the airport. The tailback @ 9:30 on a Sat morning was well beyond 170.
