Strength (Pilates foam roller) 20:00 [2]
Still not sure how to log this. Combination of stretching and strength. It's similar to a plank or a bridge but one of the support points is the roller.

Could tell I haven't used the roller in a while; there were some very tender spots, especially on the left leg (ITB and the v. lateralus).
Stretching 5:00 [1]
Pre-ride
Cycling (MTB) 2:25:00 [3]

With Matt. Chubb trail from WT trail head. Quarry trail on the way back. Then a road ride out the road next to WT past the golf courses and big houses.

Felt weak and shaky, unable to control the bike at the start but began to feel better after about 1/2 an hour. Dehydrated? Side effects from the foam roller?
C • not enough food? salt? 2

30:27 out
31:19 back (included some walking up the last climb to the picnic table to get some ecaps out of the backpack).

Note
Another ART session today + ultra-sound and muscle stimulation. Both felt really good. Some new orthotics today too but I left the box in the car, so I'm not certain what they are. Got them at a podiatrists office next to my tax guy... They were expensive, so I hope they help!

Grants Trail aka "Flirting with hypothermia".

Had planned on doing some trekking/trail running yesterday, but we got back to the car too late. Woke up this morning and felt pretty good so decided to go for a long run and get two back to back long workouts.

Temp 36F. Tights, UA base top, l/s jersey, hat, knit gloves, wool socks.

Just as I'm leaving the house, it starts to snow. Lightly at first, but much heavier after 10-15 minutes and continues for most of the run.

20 minutes and I'm still feeling great. No stiff or sore muscles from the ride. Easy pace.

About 30 minutes in I have an unfortunate convergence: between the snow and sweat I'm starting to feel wet and a little cold, especially the gloves/hands AND I'm starting to feel low on energy. I've got a camelbak for water but forgot to throw in some calories. No help there. Just have to tough it out.

Decide now would be a good time to turn around! About half a second later I notice that I had been running with the wind and now it's straight into my face... cold gets colder. Head down, one foot after the other.

Stop at QT and load some high index carbs, then back on the road. Remaining distinace includes two sets of train tracks w/about 200m inbetween, then about 1K to get home. Since I'm wet and cold, I'm absolutely certain that I'll have to wait for trains on both sets of tracks (it's happened before).

I make it across the first set but what's that noise? Sounds like a train. Which line is it on? Can I beat it to the crossing? Do I have enough left in me for a sprint? Got to try. Felt like I was in a nightmare, running in molasses, but I beat the gates by about 5 steps. Sprinting immediately after ingesting a fruit pie is not recommended.

Walking 30:00 [1] 1.5 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: ASICS
