Shadowed Benjamin. He swept the course! Soaked agian for the 3rd time today....

I think the fastest overall time on the course was posted by Melissa Kelly, 21 controls in either 30 or 32 minutes. I don't think anyone else was even close.

Note
B's school picnic was tonight. Got lucky with the rain, or lack of, but man was it steamy out. 80+F and 85% humidity.

I feel like I have jet lag. 8PM and I'm ready for bed.... lingering effects of the weekend activities.
Note
Added some pics to the race report....

easy loop around the hood. too nice of day to pass up the opportunity and my heel wasn't bothering me.

A little bit of pain on the downhills but otherwise just a little bit of achiness. Felt good to run again.

Hungry after run but not the post-race 'eat everything within reach' feeling yet.

Overall, Thunder Rolls was an excellent race! Great organization and a great course!

We had unbelievably good weather with cool temps and partial cloud cover late in the day on Saturday. Some of the best racing weather I've had in 5 years of racing.

We had a strong finish and both felt pretty good at the end. Best part, Matt and I finished the race ranked!

Post race notes:

After cleaning up the TA at the boat ramp, we grabbed a hot shower at the Loud Thunder campground and then headed back to the Race HQ for some much needed sleep. Got to bed about 2:30AM and woke about 8 because the sun was cooking my head through the tent material. Surprisingly, I wasn't at all stiff or sore, not even my heel. Anyway, got the car packed up and we're on the road about 10:15. Stopped at Bob Evans in Peoria for lunch and then home at 4:15. Spent the next 3 hours cleaning up and putting away gear.

Did pretty good on food. Had some left over but not a huge amount.

Took:
2 hostess apple pies (ate one)
4 packs of poptarts (ate two)
6 11oz cans of V8 (drank 3)
6 5.5 oz cans of V8 (drank 5)
2 23 oz bike bottles of V8 (drank half of one, didn't spend as much time on bike as expected, and it was at night)
11 8 oz Ensure shakes (6 choc, 5 vanilla) (drank 7)
3 promax bars (ate 1)
3 pbj's (ate 1, didn't set so well, ate it too fast?)
1 cinamon raisin bagel (ate post-race)
1 sandwich bag of grapes (ate most after race)
3 Lara Bars (ate none)
6 10 oz Yougurt drinks (drank 4)
2 6 oz cups yogurt (ate both for breakfast on Sunday)
2 slices of Deweys EAP pizza (ate 1)
2 Subway 6" Ham subs (ate 2)
2 liters of homemade OJ electrolyte (drank all)
1 bag Trader Joe Salt & Vinegar Chips (ate most, some prior, some post race)
1 180 energy drink (provided by the race) (gave me a pretty good buzz, actually)
12-14 liters of water

Took 440mgs of Naproxin about every 12 hours starting Thursday morning and through the race. Didn't feel like it affected my performance in any negative way.

Interestingly, my heel did not hurt during the race (except if I landed on it hard).
C • Sounds like fun (well, SORT... 3
Stretching (passive) 45:00 [1]
Throughout the day...
Walking (Evening Walk) 30:00 [1] 1.5 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: Montrail Vitesse #2
A great evening for a walk. Legs were tired though.... not sure why. :)
