Event: Berryman Adventure Race

Friday Sep 26

Note
Got up at 7 and spent the rest of the day getting ready (groceries, packing, trailer prep) to go camping this weekend at Red Bluff Recreation Area. Targeted a 4PM departure, but didn't pull out of the drive until 5:15.

Red Bluff is on the Huzzah about 15 miles south and a bit east of Steelville. I was happy to be taking 44 instead of 55/67 for a change.

Got to the campground just after dark.

Went with 3 other families. Got Group Site 3, a giant, flat, grassy field right on the river. Beautiful location. Primitive campground, but they did have 5 or 6 electric sites up on the main loop.

Set up the trailer and quickly figured out that the battery was dead. Battery circuit fuse had blown so it wasn't charging. Didn't miss the battery.

Started off with the goal of taking an easy spin on Grants Trail. Felt good, so cranked it up a bit. Wanted to avoid hills because of the heel. It's doing much better, but not ready for running yet. I expect it will be at least another week before I can run.

The far end of Grants Trail really got hit by the flooding last week. The Afton baseball field fences had leaves up to the top of the 6 or 8 foot fences. A lot of dried dirt on the trail. One washed-out section under repair.

New saddle on the bike. Sent the Terry Fly Gel back to Nashbar and got a WTB Laser Team. It seemed pretty comfortable after a minor adjustment towards the end of the ride.
Misc (Scrub vinyl siding) 3:30:00 [2]
Had to be done.... the shady areas had gone from the original white to several shades of green. Thank God it wasn't hot out! Scrub brush on the end of an extendable pole. Put the 20' extension ladder to use as well, but couldn't reach the gable peaks (which, fortunately, weren't green). My shoulders and arms are whupped.
