10 hours of sleep! Wish i could do that more often.

Went out to Shirley Quad with Rick, Emily, and Dave W. to collect controls. I did the western loop after dropping people at various locations.

Beautiful but warm day. about 70F. Legs felt tired on first climb but quit complaining after a bit. Tried to keep a steady, albeit slow, pace in the woods. Felt like i was reading the map/terrain really well. Left compass in pocket. Used it twice to confirm location where parallel errors would have been really ugly. Pretty much red-lined it.

Subtracted 15 minutes for stoppage time.

Ankle/foot felt good.

Castlewood 8 Hr with Dave Crane. 6th of 34 team in division. 18th overall. Another dumb mistake at the beginning of the race cost several minutes. Nav error at the end cost at least 10. Otherwise a very smooth race. Quite happy with our performance.

It was nice to actually pass teams in the boat for once! Dave is a strong paddler.

Consumed 3 ensures. 1 pack of Gu Chomps. 3.5L water. 2.5L of Gu electrolyte drink.

No major cramping during the race (a little in the boat). Bonked on the final bike at the top of Justins. Had forgotten to eat.

Neck and shoulders were feeling really bad on the way home. Had the bright idea to get a deep tissue massage. I felt really good afterwards. Quads and thighs cramped up when I got up off the table....

Too tired to go to Holtmann's party. Fireworks woke me up around midnight, pre-race, and it took 2+ hours to go back to sleep. Got up at 4.

24F. Took forever to put all the clothing on. was dressed about right but toes got cold. Had to repack in a different backpack when I realized I'd brought my work computer home with me.

lobster gloves, l/s shirt, light fleece, columbia wind jacket, 2 pairs tights, bike shorts, two pairs socks, balaclava.

Diet at work is hurting the weight loss program. Continual stream of stuff, from pizza lunches to donuts.

Was not at all excited about the ride home. very tired and didn't feel especially good. 36F. Toes got cold again. Didn't wear the 2nd pair of tights or the fleece.
