Vianney Track
9 miles with 6x1 mile @ 6:53 w 400 meter rest.

My Garmin consistently shows 4 laps around lane 1 of the track at just over a mile. Usually 1.03 or 1.04. One at 1.06 when I went around another runner. I'm using the full time for the 4 laps rather than the Garmin reported mile pace. I don't expect the Garmin distance to be exact, but I wouldn't expect the error to be consistent. i.e. would expect some to be high, and some low. With three different garmins, I've yet to see one lap at a mile. Is a lap around the track, in lane 1, close to the inside line, exactly 400m? Or is it just a bit over to guarantee the distance?

1 mile warmup

1 - 6:59 - AHR=134
2 - 7:00 - 145
3 - 6:55 - 148
4 - 6:48 - 151
5 - 7:11 - 144 (1.06 miles on the garmin) HR suggests I was slacking.
6 - 6:48 - 150

First 4 felt good. Last 2 required some extra focus but felt ok, capacity-wise but left foot was bothering me. Tripped on a small stump on Sunday and jammed the 3rd - 5th metatarsals on the left foot. At the time it hurt, but ran it off. Last night, noticed a lot of swelling over the area. Had to loosen the shoe laces a bit for laps 4 & 5 to accommodate the extra swelling. Hopefully that will clear up quickly.

Hip and knee feel ok so bringing down the injured flag.

Jupiter has passed Mars. Venus is still high in the sky. All three still very close together. Mercury visible above the horizon.

Note
slept:9.0 (rest day)

Pieces parts feel pretty good - normal wear and tear. Hip was a little tight, continue to roll it with a baseball to break up the fibery fascia tissue.

64F in the house last night. Great sleeping temp for me. L wasn't home so haven't turned on the furnace yet - though, bman was complaining that it was too cold.... Hoping the warmer temps this week will delay furnace use for another week or more.

3 hours on the hills at greensfelder. excellent morning, but it was cold at the start. warmed up quickly though.

Fall colors are in full swing and probably as good as they're gonna get this year. In another week the woods might be really open.

Run 58:12 intensity: (1:54 @0) + (2:44 @1) + (19:21 @2) + (31:10 @3) + (3:03 @4) 6.4 mi (9:06 / mi) +79m 8:45 / mi

Feeling good after the run this morning and the legs were itching for more so did some time on a shorted Presidents loop bringing the total for the day up to 4 hours (what I was supposed to do yesterday).

2 laps at Forest Park. Planned for three but decided to not push the recovery.

Had to happen sooner or later, race starting and finishing at the visitors center. Not that big of a race, so more of a benefit than detriment: scored a glazed cake donut between laps. Probably could have had a choc milk too. The donut lasted a couple miles and was very tasty. Wish I knew which shop it came from. Get one for the fifty.

Also in the 'had to happen sooner or later ' category, was almost nailed by a golf ball. Player toed one off the tee on the parallel to skinker long hole. I was running south. Knew he was getting ready to hit and I didn't like his practice swings so kept a close eye on him. Sure 'nuf. Saw the ball right off the club coming straight at my head (30 meters?). I ducked, watched it fly over and thwack, right into a parked car. Left a major dent! I hope they did the honorable thing. I don't feel so crazy now for keeping an eye on golfers along that stretch.

Presidents 3

Another great morning. 45F clear skies.

L/s top, 2xu shorts, running gloves, buff.

Shortened the strap on my head lamp and wrapped around my wrist with the light on the back of my hand. Much better than holding it (or wearing it).

Test run. Could still feel hip and knee but much improved. Will try 3 more tonight.

Beautifully clear morning with lots of stars and planets visible. Mars, Jupiter, and Venus all very close together.

Dropped car for service so it was either run or ride to work.

Lotta busy streets and plenty of red lights. Olive - Warson - Ladue - Forsyth - Forest Park - Clayton. The Park was pleasant though.

Right foot cramped as soon as I took it out of the bike shoe. Maybe new shoes? The Lakes are ancient and weigh a ton.
