Pere Marquette Trail Run

Timing system did record my finish so they took the time from my Garmin which means I gave up some seconds. Hopefully didn't put me behind the guy I passed when we hit the asphalt at the finish.

A good run considering 6 weeks of running prior to PM totaling 7.5 miles with two weeks of taper before that of that.

Temps in high 60s plus 100% humidity put a hurt on me. Felt horrible for first 2.5, like, am I gonna be able to go 7.5? horrible. Overheated, lightheaded and nauseous.

2.5 thru 4 I actually started to feel better but legs ran out of gas on big hill 3. Also, coming down hill 2 it was obvious my shoes were shredding my feet. (Post race count..... 7!)

Walked up hill 3 but on the way down, caught some people who had passed me earlier. That always helps. Walk up 4. Then go as fast as I can down to the finish. Was passed by Jeff Sona just before the bottom, but he'd already crushed me so didn't really care. I did pass 3 or 4 between the bottom of the hill and the finish...

Minor cramping threatened coming down through the narrow rock place and slowed me some for the final descent.

Bruised ribs were only a minor annoyance during warmup and at the beginning. Didn't notice them after the first climb. I thing other things superceded that input.

Got to wait another year to try to hit this race at peak fitness....

Picked up sanding machine and polyurethane after I got home from the race. Built a plastic wall between the kitchen and fam room. Then spent a couple hours sanding.

I don't feel at all prepped for PM tomorrow. Just going to show up and see what happens. The rainy forecast from earlier in the week has given way to decent conditions. Trail should be fast if we don't get any precip overnight. Wish I was as ready for it as I was for TH..

Lunch run over to FP to run some 400's.

Beautiful day. 60F, 10mph wind.

Felt good to do some speed work again after about a month of down time. However, not much fun to be had running with bruised ribs.

Lack of training + the ribs aint gonna make PM go any quicker.

Only did 3.

Went to bed last night at 7:30.... was really tired. Really felt the poor night of sleep (Friday night) at the race yesterday.

Last row went in at about 6PM last night. Cut the floor vents and put away a lot of tools.
