Firehouse 4

Was thinking of taking the day completely off, but legs felt ok this morning. 8.5 hours of sleep does wonders for a body.

Very humid.

Watched two hawks that were on the roof of a house. One was on the chimney cap, the other down on the gutter. Didn't wear my glasses so couldn't see any detail. Might have been juveniles, or maybe a parent and a juvenile.

Grants to Gravois + Presidential Prelude at the end, which I suppose, makes it a postlude, in a musical sense....

Dog + lightning = awake at 2AM for an hour, bumping the wakeup time an hour. Looked like it was going to rain - a lot....

But, it only drizzled a bit and only a few minutes of heavier rain. Wouldn't have minded more, actually.

Ran the return leg with a guy named Jeff. Going a tad fast but nice to have company. He wants to do a marathon in all 50 states. I think he said he's done 15 so far.

Legs felt ok but also felt like they were picking up where I left off from the run yesterday.

Super hungry. 3 eggs and a big bowl of mixed cereals with a huge pile of blueberries.

2016 Stage 1. At least one key crash. Haven't watched the whole episode yet.

Run long (Easy) 2:04:02 intensity: (5 @0) + (4:33 @1) + (1:37:03 @2) + (22:21 @3) 13.5 mi (9:11 / mi) +84m 9:01 / mi

Grants to 55 and back.

First 2 hour run since last fall.

Felt pretty good for the whole run. Stretch along Grants Farm was the typical 15s per mile slower but otherwise, maintained an 8:30 - 9:00 pace for the entire run. Was sorta dreading the monotony but once I got going, time went by surprisingly fast. Time includes a couple stops at lights, pee break, shoe re-tie, etc.

Garmin Customer Support is awesome!

I've been through several HR straps. They seem to last about a year. The first two just quit working properly. They were older models. The last two were HRM3's and were a great improvement over the originals, but after about a year, the material on the 'skin-side' of the strap would wear and start cutting my chest. Not ideal.

A couple weeks ago, I couldn't find a replacement on the Garmin website so I called them. The first guy asked me some questions and said he'd like to pass me to the Customer Problem Reporting team. I didn't have time to talk, so he took my contact info and set up an appointment for the Problem team to call me after I got home, around 6:30. They called. I got a brand-new HRM4 under warranty.

Been using the new strap for about a week now. It is more comfortable than the HRM3, and it does not seem to be affected by static like the 3.

To bad my 310xt doesn't support all of the features of the HRM4. The thing has a built in accelerometer and can measure breathing, bounce, cadence.....

I wonder how many people get the new gadget and then upgrade their device.

Grants to Gravois

Lots of people out this morning enjoying the 68F weather.

I turned on the sprinkler to water the front garden while I was running. Almost guarantees it will rain today.

6x20s ST's at the end.

HR monitor was wacky for the first 5 minutes. Re-wet the sensors and it corrected right away.

My E pace has gotten 15-30 sec/mile faster over the last 6-8 weeks. Nice to see some return on the training.
