Skinker through FP. Cut short the loop around Avi Field. Legs were feeling tired.
Odd weather morning. Fog layer over parts of FP, mostly about 20-30 feet above the ground. 53F at start. Between Steinberg and Planetarium, the fog layer was on the ground. Running from clear air into fog came with a 5-10 degree jump in temperature and, of course, a big jump in humidity.

Was out in the Valley for an early appointment, right next to the Monarch Levee Trail, so I had a bright idea....
Outnback on the Levee, but mostly not on the levee. The trail is closed for a Army Corp project about .5 miles west of where I jumped on. This section is easily by-passable on the north side of the levee by running through the grass to a picnic pavillion. To be safe, backtrack to gravel road, out to outer road, west a bit and back to trail. BUT, there are "No Trespassing - Monarch Levee -
Violators Will Be Arrested" signs all over the place. ???
Back out to road, west to athletic complex, a bit of a tour around the complex, then back the way I came. More No Tresp signs going back up to the trail, but I ignored those.
Ended up going about a mile longer than planned.
It seems very odd to put up a bunch of No Trespassing signs all along a public, multi-use trail. Called Chesterfield to see whether the trail was open or not. It is, except for the 300' section where the Corp is working.
Next time, I guess I'll just go on the north side by-pass route. Or maybe just park at the athletic complex.
NE corner of Greensfelder w DC. Had hoped to find some frost flowers but I don't think it's wet enough. Didn't find any. But, did have a unique, surreal moment: no breeze, beautiful yellow leaves, sun coming up over the next ridge, sunlight warming the upper branches ubove us. Leaves start drifting down like giant snowflakes all around. As they land on the forest floor, the leaves make a sound like a fat raindrop. Then the walnuts started dropping....
Lots of new trails in that part of the park. Good for mtb, bad for orienteering. Destroyed an awesome control location. 2 large boulders separated by about 24 inches. The gap runs about 8 feet. Trail now runs right through the gap. Would be a great white control now, I guess.
