Central Cortex + FP VC

6*F, light wind, lottsasun.

Heavy base layer (Hind), NF wind shirt, 2 pr tights, 2 pr socks, bala, running cap, fleece gloves + dying hand warmers. Had a couple buffs with me too.

Mucho cold air coming up under base layer until I tucked it in...

Generally, too warm. Rolled up the bala, put buff around neck, took off gloves. Maybe get rid of a pair of tights?

I think it was warmer than 6 when I started, and a lot warmer than 6 by the time I finished. Clothing would have been good at 6*.

Giant bird in FP flew right over my head. Saw from behind so not sure if owl or hawk.

Grants to Grants Farm Car Park with side loop

5F (heat pump reading) W wind @ 5 - 10 mph, clear blue skies.

2 ls tops, lite fleece, 2 pair tights, fleece gloves, hand warmers, bala

took buff and vest along in pack.

wind seemed stronger than yesterday, with more of a bite to it. short detour to the west on the way to the trail to sample the headwind. About a block in, my face and ears were freezing. The balaclava and the running hat weren't enough protection.... Thought about going home for another layer but decided to just HTFU.

Like yesterday, was overly warm going down trail. Put on the vest before making the turn back into the wind. Quickly utilized the buff as a second hat. Face and ears were still really cold when the wind picked up.

Only one other person on the trail today.

Interesting Science VS podcast on obesity, looking at genetics, gut bacteria, diet, exercise, etc.

Note

Was hoping to get back on the bike this week, but the LR forecast is looking much colder with morning temps in the single digits all week.

Threshold without winter shoes and some sort of face protection is 15F.
