| Flock Hill. Awesome place. simply designed course went basically up for 24 minutes, lost for 4 minutes, then down for 5 minutes. Was feeling crap on the hills walking and waiting for Chris to catch me. But was entertained by the awesome rocks. Missed three by 1 min. Then blew no. 8 big time when Chris caught up. Was not far off with initial attack (It was well hidden on the other side of the small rock I went too) but really relocated poorly wasting alot more time than everyone else who seemed to make the same mistake. The down hill was fun although I was dissapointed to not catch Chris up again. | ||

| Orienteering race (Sprint) 15:00 [4] | ||
| SI champs sprint, Carstens Beach supreme. Was an awesome course/area. Didn't have too much top gear because of cold but didn't matter too much as it was a good technical course. Felt good at the end/afterwards which probably reflects how hard I pushed. However I didn't make so many mistakes as normal for me in a sprint (except poor route to no.1) so maybe more oxygen is my solution to my shit sprint results. Got pipped by my new arch nemisis Scott. And 3 seconds by both James and Mark. But smoked by my hairy arch nemisis the Fornicator. | ||

| SI champs. Night mass start race. This is the sort of event I dream about. Fun fun fun. However I didn't handle the excitement well at all. Stuffed the first too rushing and following to lose the pack...but then didn't learn my lesson at all and continued to fumble around the two loop course with most of the other "elites". NAN (New arch nemesis) Scott toyed with me for most of the course then burnt me at the finish. I need to get back my competitive aggression...I can't believe I let a 16 year old school me. | ||

| After ride. Thighs like solid brick but other muscles ok.
Whilst I felt ok training, as soon as I finished I knew the cold I've been fighting off for a few days had struck. Dissapointed as I wanted a big two weeks of training which would have been easy with SI champs this weekend and ARC next weekend. | ||

| Auckland Long champs. Waiuku South.
Had a good run, a woopsie on the first than a minute later on when lost concentration. Other than that I was hammering along battling with young Scott. Bloody hell was he impressive. Spent everything I had trying to stay with him, then when he swerved off I tried to run off, only to lose a minute and he took off. Really put the hammer down catch up again. Both of us struggled around ok from there. Was tired but pretty pleased with that, thinking we had done enough for a win or second behind Carsten. Was amazed (especially after yesterdays slack effort) to see so many others running well also. Mark smashing it out in 78. Was pleased with my fitness improvements from Nationals, but pretty keen to step it up again after getting a pasteing from so many. | ||

| Well what can I say. Was okay. Just made three seperate parallel errors on the long leg, the most significant one ending me up in the middle of a dark green patch. Lost 8 min on that leg. Felt ok just lacked that spring and strength up hill. Feeling very good afterwards... resisted the urge to either do more training or get drunk.

| Was very tired starting off and just about dead by twenty minutes. Fought so hard to not DNF and keep jogging (mostly). Made some stupid mistakes because of tiredness, like not bothering to look at the map and thinking I could just go on memory, but wasn't even in the right area. Not a very positive training day really but still time under the belt.

| Day light savings ended so I thought I'd celebrate by running in the dark with a headlamp. Buet night. Went up to turn back on hedleys fence. Can't beleive I'm feeling so good considering I felt so crap on friday and saturday and then busted my arse totally on the ride yesterday. Just a bit tired up the steep hills but enjoying running. | ||

| Score event at home. Was going ok then diverted to turn the electric fence off that was supposed to be off. Then took a while to get my mojo back before racing at the end. Chose a few bad routes and was running out of time to get home....thankfully I ran past the barn so I jumped on the motorbike and raced accross a few paddocks only to miss by 9 secs. Not sure if I should include the hour of motorbike riding picking up controls as training since I've used it in a race and I need more training.
