Orienteering 1:08:00 [5]
QB day 1, Whiritoa.

Fast flat and pretty easy nav.

Started hard, kept going real hard. Thought I was doing alright then started to get very tired, finally just fell asleep on one control. Relocated calmly after running too far so atleast that was ok, but damn Darren caught me up quick as a flash, he was running just a little too quick for me to think clearly and read my map properly, so I didn't contribute to any nav and we had a few woopsies before he just ran away. I pushed about as hard as I have ever pushed. Felt immense pain the whole way. Chest particularly sore. Darren looked pretty sweet, bastard...I didn't think he had been training well either. Cooked my goose for Day 2.

Orienteering race 18:00 [4]
Very Very Cool, night sprint at massey university. Led early on then took a detour on the long leg, surprised to loose half a minute when I didn't even stop running though. Just behind the pack...and Brent damn it. Aaron 18 31, DA 18.50 ,Thom,Brent and Me within 8 seconds.

Felt knackered after work and yesterdays ride. Forced myself out the door but just couldn't muster enough strength to run with any form so didn't do either the hill reps or long run I was hoping to do.

Night ride with Kane at woodhill. I struggled my arse off to keep up. Was awesome.

Running - Off road warm up/down 30:00 [1]
jogging around with Thom Thumb and SimOn Jager. Intervals night, just us so we did 10 x 50 metre accellerations. Felt like a pretty lazy day. But hey its probably alot better for me than just another VO2 run.

Again a fun ride around the Vegas bike park. Forgot the free shuttle cards Mike gave me damn it. but went up No Brains for lunch. Bloody good track. Was very impressed Karyn rode it no problems. Gabby and Dodds are legends and I'd recommend anybody do the course. I still need to focus on not leaning back when I start to get scared or on sharp down hill breaking, but otherwise really loving getting some down hill speed back. Loved it a little too much on "Be Rude Not Too" When I tried peddaling and hit a root with it. Was on my arse before you could say "13 Hour rogaine". Don't think my hand is broken...just hurts.

After bike ride. Legs pretty tired and hammy felt like a big lump. Took a bit of warming up but eventually go into it and felt real good pushing it hard for the twenty min. Muscles sore but apart from that feeling good and running ok.

Cruisy ride around Whirinaki Mountain bike loop. Its a Mingin forest and quite a cool track. Karyn taught me some of the skills she learnt on the course last week. Its exactly the tips I needed, I'd turned into a backwards leaning pussy on down hills. So worked on improving my body position and ended up cranking down the last massive big hill. Awesome. Muscles especially hammy still real sore, but went to Kerosene Creek afterwards and got a massage on the offending appendage.

Enjoying the nightlife in Rotovegas. Muscles sore and torn still from my first week of speedwork in a while. Particulary right hamstring and archilles but also hip flexors and that little muscle thing on the upper side bottom. As usual the right is worse than left. Cranking along on the run though.

Been a while since I did a decent training session by myself from home. Wasn't overly enthusiastic so left it till dark then ran around Rob's Maze. Wholey Moley Angela Joley he has made so many tracks its rediculous. I no longer wonder how long it would take to ride everysingle track in one session. Thats just fantasy talk. Not even Stu and Brent on some wacked out adventure racing training diet would be dumb enough to try riding all them at once.

Also did an uptempo climb from the gumboot gate and 10 accellerations at the top.

At work today (well it wasn't really work it was making Mountain bike tracks with Rob) my right hip clicked sideways a couple of times... searing pain, that sort of thing. Need to look after it a bit better...try and maintain some of the bazaire range of motion this joint is supposed to do but I never do.

Flat reps on rugby field with Jordaan, James and Martin. Felt ok...probably cos I havnt done much lately.

Goldies bush run with Tim. Felt weak on the hills, but hey least I can run again. Brent did a no show.

Wednesday May 14

Felt a bit like normal. Was able to go a normal pace and push a little, felt wierdly strong on the hills but by half an hour I my muscles were stiff and sore like I'd done a 2 hour run. I suppose the ligements and stuff are all soft from doing nothing for three weeks. Head and chest felt great for the rest of the evening. Man it's good to feel healthy.

Improving heaps. Did a "real" days work today. Then just played around on some wooden obstacles with me bike, trying to regain some skills.

yeah. Still sick. Thats about 8 days of doing nothing now. Went to doctor yesterday. Got some antibiotics and a flu jab. Got some books out from the library about immunity foods. and got pissed off at being sick some much.

Might go rock climbing tommorrow, but I doubt I'll be training real soon.
