Friday Oct 31

Mountain Biking 1:50:00 [3]
Good ride from home.

Tuesday Oct 28

Note
Was gonna, then I didn't.

Monday Oct 27

Note
Did some filming off the big boys Mass start in Woodhill. Good fun.
Then built some MTB track. absolutly knackered. Shows how unfit I am, getting smashed around by yesterdays jaunt.

Sunday Oct 26

Orienteering race 50:00 [5]
A bit silly really, Ran course 2 again, this time after a slow start I felt quite good so pushed really really hard the rest of the way (it was white lightning, so bloody easy). No mistakes and I'm exhausted now, but feel pretty stupid going so hard against a bunch of girls, boys and old men. Fun though.

Saturday Oct 25

Orienteering 1:08:00 [3]
Pussed out and did course 2. Was knackered from day before. Not very focused, so got a sharp kick up the arse when screwed up no. 1 coming of the track. Was an awesome tricky course and I went on to stuff a few up. Stuffed around a bit so was happy not to get scalped by some sharp juniors and pesky woman.

Friday Oct 24

Orienteering race 1:00:00 [5]
Chasing start middles.
Went hard the first race, Lost a minute on one control which put me down on Tom and James.

Was toasted from the first race come the chasing start, navigated better but just couldn't stay with Carsten or Tom. So painful and slow, Carsten ran 5 min quicker. Bloody good fun.

Thursday Oct 23

Running - Off road 30:00 [3]
yogging for health.

Wednesday Oct 22

Ride -Road 1:30:00 [3]
Rob finally broke in his new road bike yesterday so this morning I had a quick scrape with the Ladyshave, popped a couple of EPO and grabbed the coffee loyalty card and went road biking.

Running - Road 10:00 [4]
Running home cos my car was broken.
Kayaking 1:00:00 [3]
With Erin. Nice evening for it.

Tuesday Oct 21

Running - Off road 1:00:00 [3]
Did a big thistle chipping mission this morning with Rob. He drove around all the flat, I ran up and down the hills, was about 2 1/2 hours but started to do less and less running by the end.

Monday Oct 20

Running - Off road 30:00 [3]
Mentally a bit unfocused on training. so did a bit of the old swedish speed play to get through it. bueat day.

Sunday Oct 19

Mountain Biking race 1:30:00 [4]
Auckland MTB series race, Marquita's Garden. Sport grade and veteran! Got held up big time on the first lap, Pushed to the front after half way. about 29min for first lap, 26 1/2 for second then crashed and broke my front brake on what was gonna be a good third lap. Was supposed to do a fourth but couldn't be bothered with one brake and no competition. I don't' think anyone else did another lap anyway so I might have still won. so didn't quite bust my gut because I was saving a little for the last lap. Very very enjoyable and I want to do more.
Kayaking 1:00:00 [3]
Cruise with Karyn after the race. Arms/shoulders were sweet, hip flexers and back tired from the mtb race.

Saturday Oct 18

Running - Off road 30:00 [3]
Calf feeling better, having been giving it death with the massage finger.
Kayaking 1:15:00 [3]

Friday Oct 17

Mountain Biking 1:40:00 [3]
Catching up with Nikora Harrisonson. Enjoyable ride in the rain, a bit stop start as we did some talking instead of riding hard.

Thursday Oct 16

Running - Off road 40:00 [3]
Calf/Achilles not improving. But potential cold doesn't seem to be getting worse.

Wednesday Oct 15

Mountain Biking tempo 26:02 [5]
Put a decent effort into the loop to be used for this weekends race. Getting Rob's cold so throat was sore, but legs are fresh and went hard. Took the wrong turn at the end which cost me getting under 26 min which I thought would be impossible after last weeks effort of 30 min. Feel very unfit though which is good because I've got a lot of improvement to catch up to Thom who did 23 and a half during a 2 hour training ride.

Mountain Biking warm up/down 15:00 [2]
As I said I wasn't feeling very good so just wanted to do the loop and couldn't be arsed doing any real training too.

Tuesday Oct 14

Running - Off road 45:00 [3]
Calf wasn't brilliant. Tight and sore. So just jogged it home.

Monday Oct 13

Note
(rest day)
Body was eager for more running. But mind remembered it was retired so didn't bother fitting it into the days schedule.

Sunday Oct 12

Ride -Road 1:00:00 [2]
To/From the ferry with big pack.
Running - Road 55:00 [3]
Good solid run from Palm beach over looking for nice trials (found one) and Carol's place (found it, but she wasn't home). Feeling sweet and really enjoyed pushing despite being tired from yesterday.

Saturday Oct 11

Ride -Road 2:00:00 [2]
Cruising around/to and through waiheki Island. Mostly pretty gentle but with a big pack on.
Mountain Biking 11:00 [4]
Gave the Waiheke Island Mountain bike park loop a time trial test. Pretty cool track. I'd be surprised if Brent ever went that fast.
Running - Off road 50:00 [2]
Gentle jog with Karyn on her long run. Calf good up steep hills and for that time.

Friday Oct 10

Kayaking 1:20:00 [3]
paddle wit uncle Tom across the kaipara from shelley beach, quite windy and included a portage across the bar on the way back. i had forgotten that Tom enjoy kayaking so much

That was in the morning. in the afternoon I didn't' feel like I'd been training at all and was feeling guilty for not finding time to go running or riding. Guilty is a strange feeling because I'm supposed to be retired.

Thursday Oct 9

Running - Off road tempo 20:11 [4]
New Time trial from baby gate, through clay clearing, down hill cutting over to Andy's track at the corner, up past the water tank to the 5 way then down the re entrant track back to the baby gate.

Calf felt sweet as during and Achilles just a bit stiff and swollen the following morning....but pretty much what is "normal" for me. Can still feel a lump and band where I pulled it though so continuing to treat it.
Running - Off road warm up/down 20:00 [2]
Ran out of time for the long paddle as well, because my stupid cow got milk fever and then rejected its calf. It reminds me of Brent really (the calf), big, dumb, slimey and a rejected but still keen to bunt.

Wednesday Oct 8

Kayaking 40:00 [3]
Running - Off road 20:00 [3]
Calf ok but still there.

Tuesday Oct 7

MTBO 55:00 [3]
Cruised up and did the auckland mtb club race course. 30.16 for now. But that aint that quick. I'm obviously not the fittest on the bike at the moment but it was still enjoyable. Also rode Marks downhill track for the first time, its shit. Think I might have to get to work on my exit trail and show these suckers what a real track feels like.
C • I'll show you 4

Monday Oct 6

Running - Off road 10:00 [2]
Tried to do another running/grubbing session, but calf just didn't feel right, so after ten minutes walked around. And then it was raining so I didn't go riding or paddling either.

Sunday Oct 5

Running - Off road 25:00 [2]
Bit stiff. Calf is not really sore at point of pull, but sore and swollen at Achilles insertion. Probably the sort of thing I've been ignoring for ages but now I know it ain't good and won't go away without a bit of calf raising discipline. Hips are good. Felt them at one point during the race yesterday (first time its been a concern during a race) seems to have done them good although the support muscles are tight and sore especially left groin.
Kayaking 45:00 [3]
good solid kayak, around the loop. Got broken up with a twenty minute of kayaking and carrying through the mangrove channel we cut because it was far from high tide.

Saturday Oct 4

Kayaking 20:00 [2]
Shoulders where stuffed. Especially left one, still isn't strong from that crash about a year ago. So had to call the session short as the technique was crap. Still good to be back in the boat again. Enjoyed it.

Friday Oct 3

Ride -Road 5:00:00 [3]
The Grave yard shift. 7pm to 6am, Adventure race with Rob G, Darren Gosse, and Anne Mortimor. Was a cruisy ride broken up with pleasent stolls with and without the bike and stops to look for grave stones. haven't done a lot of riding so was a little tired but ok by the end. A bit of fun. We won by handicap and perhaps could have won overall if we didn't skip some checkpoints out earlier than run out of checkpoints later so finished an hour early.

Thursday Oct 2

Ride -Road 25:00 [2]
tested the calf muscle on the bike. Need to replace the cleat and maybe peddles. Its all loose because of a missing bolt. Could be a major factor in my pulled calf.

Wednesday Oct 1

Running - Off road 30:00 [3]
Did a thistle chipping/running session at tupare. Good all body work out that moves focus from arms/back (swinging grubber), to running as the paddock runs out of thistles and more searching is required. did this session at dusk so there was more running/searching required.
