Sunday Jul 6

Orienteering 10:00 [2]
feeling a little better today, managed about three and a half long controls, before walking much further home.

Then had a huge sleep back at the accomodation as everyone else went home.

Saturday Jul 5

Orienteering race 3:45 [2]
Mikro Sprint race, Hungarian event centre. I was still asleep when I started and stuffed it up at the start so not the win today.
Note
I was feeling a bit rough today before the middle race, so did a Jamie and went to the furthest point before walking back to the finish.

Orienteering race 24:00 [5]
Cool sprint race, except it was a middle distance.

Thursday Jul 3

Orienteering race 1:35:00 [4]
Bit of an easy long hot course really. Wish I was the Fornicator...he would have carved up today. One bingo control that I missed and a few hesitations but other than that I ran ok and am pretty stuffed and slightly hung. Some random hungarian followed (very blatently) all the way from no 4 to the finish. He even stopped at drinks and route choice legs for me to work it out. At one point we hit a track and I thought we were some where else ...he showed me where we were and said "just go straight" I didn't I went the wrong way down the track. He still followed me and waited for me to relocate properly.

Orienteering race 1:55:00 [4]
Its always good to be on the podium and get a prize. Its just better when your at the top and not 25 min behind in sixth.

still struggling with random control points in the middle of nothing and green. In particularly my height judgment was very bad...this is something I normally pride myself on so was a bit frustrated. Also I didn't understand the system and didn't find any plastic bags when given the map just before the start. Was sweating like a pig and it was inevitable that my map would callapse in such green forest. Didn't think I would be able to finish...but it ended up only costing me a bit on two controls at the end.

Forest was very green and rocky, which is perfect training for Czech. Unfortunatly there would be a massive advantage from starting
in tracking and there where a shitload of stinging nettles.

Paced myself well and despite the heat was still running well on the flat at the end. Through the rough forest and up hills I was pretty pathetic though.

Here you can follow the aussies WOC team. There report on the races on the map I was also racing is interesting. I'm not the only one struggling with it.

Around the buetiful lake here at Tata. Struggling big time. Feet and things sore from lugging around the big back pack. This place is so sweet. Gonna be a great summer holiday week. Racing in the mornings, buet weather and lake in the afternoon, cheap beer, "Disco everynight from 11 to 1.3O", and there is even wimbeldon and porn on the tv!
