Orienteering race (4.3km CF) 57:04 [4] *** 7.2 km (7:56 / km) +105m 7:23 / km
spiked:12/16c shoes: Jalas-Jukola FLX Black

Man it was cold after yesterday's beautiful day. Messed up pretty quick on #2, then again on 4. After that I more or less settled down and had some minor bobbles, but overall OK way too slow. though..
I lost probably 10-12 minutes on #2, and probably another 5 minutes on 4.
Got confused on a control description, read the next one on my map, so I thought I was at the wrong control...as I was leaving, I looked down again and saw the control number I'd just left...so had to turn around and run about 30m to the control...dumb mistake.

Note

Just got my QR trace loaded onto the map, and boy am I embarrassed. I went right by # 2 without seeing the control...went on for a 10' error...:-((.
#4 was even worse map reading wise-4' there. I missed the trail I was looking for...#12 looked a lot worse than it was.

Here's the map with my QuickRoute.

Orienteering warm up/down (WU-the start) 14:46 [1] 1.1 km (13:25 / km) +25m 12:03 / km
shoes: Asics Trabuco IX WR

Just warming up/to the start plus some jogging in place. I don't want to get too loose so that I start out too fast...and get lost.

Orienteering race (CF 4.3) 1:02:43 [4] *** 7.0 km (8:58 / km) +122m 8:14 / km
spiked:12/16c shoes: Asics Trabuco IX WR

Pretty sloppy in areas. Easy to get confused by new trails, etc. The race instructions warned about that, and the changed vegetation, and some of the stumps, that were now knolls...Still fun, and probably (unfortunately) one of my better races

Note

And the QR for today's race was also a bit disappointing. Really simple errors. I think one thing I need to do is to stop trying to force the map to match up with what I see, and maybe do it the other way around. Especially when it comes to trail directions.

Here's the map with my QR.

Orienteering (Control Picking CF 5.6) 1:09:16 [1] *** 7.7 km (9:00 / km) +65m 8:38 / km
spiked:23/27c slept:7.0 weight:79.4kg shoes: Kalenji Kaptera XT

Easy nav practice. Trying to look at route choice more. Had a couple of controls right off the bat that had my head scratching. One skipped control due to some active logging again. Also found another control to put on the map. Wasn't too happy with my navigation this time.
