Saturday Oct 20

Orienteering race 48:00 [3] *** 4.3 km (11:10 / km)
16c shoes: Oasics
There were actually 17 controls on the course, but I only went to 16...this was a local meet at Fort Casey on Whidbey Island. I had a really good run at the beginning (controls 1-7), but then I bobbled 8 and completely ran past 9. It was a 1:5000 course, and I think I was having trouble estimating the distances since I ran about twice as far as I needed to, punching 10 (and thinking it was 9) and then continuing on down the beach in search of 10 (which obviously wasn't there...). I finally ran into 11, used it to relocate back to 10, punched it again (not realizing I'd already punched it once as "control 9"), and finished the course. So...it was a slow day and a mispunch. oh well...

The rest of the day I helped out at the junior training camp.
C • despite mispunching... 4

Friday Oct 19

Run 45:00 [4] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks
We ran around Haller Lake and then stopped at Northacres on the way back. 5x normal hills at Northacres, then a loop through the park, 5x a different hill, a loop through the park, and 5x one more segment. All the hills are very gradual, so it wasn't that bad. We ran back to school and did a mile on the track (broken into 400s).
C • Haller Lake 3

Thursday Oct 18

Run 38:00 [3] 4.0 mi (9:29 / mi)
shoes: Brooks
Nice run with one loop through Northacres, then past the graveyard, around Haller Lake, and back.

Wednesday Oct 17

Run race 19:52 [5] 5 km (3:58 / km) vdot: 50.2
shoes: Brooks
X-C metro meet at Lincoln. It started pouring rain on and off, but during the run it was nice and clear. Afterwards we ran down to the Sound and iced in the water, which was awesome but really cold!
C • Well done! 2

Tuesday Oct 16

Run 36:00 [3] 4.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks
Same run as Thursday.

Monday Oct 15

Run 35:00 [3] 3.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks
2.5-3.0 mile loop around Haller Lake, plus three 500s on the track/quad.

Sunday Oct 14

Orienteering race 1:04:29 [4] **** 5.3 km (12:10 / km) +190m 10:19 / km
14c shoes: Brooks
Really fun orienteering course, and much cleaner than Saturday's run. I had a couple of bobbles/hesitations (and had trouble finding the last control!), but nothing too serious. The last control was sort of hidden in a pit behind a little rock....oh well :-).
