Orienteering race 1:12:06 [5] **** 5.8 km (12:26 / km) +195m 10:39 / km
shoes: New Balance All Terrain

SA Classic was a better race and I felt more comfortable. Only two mistakes, but probably the wrong route choice on two other legs. Quite satisfied with my 4th place.

Orienteering race 35:05 [5] *** 3.5 km (10:01 / km) +85m 8:56 / km
shoes: New Balance All Terrain

SA Short couse. Made big mistake on the very first control. Had a reentrant and saw some mounds to right of the path. Went straight there before realising my mistake. Rest of run was OK but just a bit slow and did not feel great. Glynn caught me by 7 so tried to keep with him but as soon as we hit the hill up to 11 there was no chance. At the end Jean-Louis and Pat made even bigger mistakes so was second by about 20s! Shows that you should never give up.

Note

Spent 1 hour walking through Cango Caves. I suppose in light of Nicholas's comment about me logging golf as training, I better not log this one!

Played with Brad and his Grandfather at Dimension Data. I am a better orienteer than golfer!

Orienteering race 1:07:03 [4] ***** 4.2 km (15:58 / km) +180m 13:09 / km
shoes: New Balance All Terrain

Ran at the feared Hedianga venue. From the sublime to the ridiculous! Last year it was 35 Deg, but today it was about 10 with an icy wind. Went quite well but took it slow to make sure the mistakes were not too big. Came second but still 8 minutes behind Ian. At least I beat the young whippersnapper.
