Orienteering race 1:43:49 [5] *** 5.1 km (20:21 / km) +300m 15:44 / km
shoes: Addidas

I knew it was going to be a tough day with 300m of climb over the 5.1 km. My muscles in my lower back get really sore especially when climbing the hills. So I decided to go out slowly and try to keep to the paths at the start. After about 30 minutes the muscles don't hurt so much. However the climb was really tough and sat down often to catch my breath and rest my back. By the end I was finished but my navigation had been quite good ( I guess 2 or 3 minutes, the rest being all the sitting on the hills. I was stunned to find I won M50. The other had worse runs than I did. Just shows the point of keeping going!

Had a so-so run. After making mistakes at 2 and 3 Roger had me in his sights. Rather disappointing as I normally do better on the short events. Ended 4th.

shoes: New Balance 1063

Ran the first 2 legs of the relay. First up was a 1km course and second a 2km course. However Jeremy got the scales wrong and I did 1.8km. I wanted to push hard for that leg but the lungs started to burn. I carried on with the second leg but there was a lot of walking. That was about 3.2km. Brad ran the last leg but we did not win!
