Very pleased with my run considering I had to stop to read the map - could not read the detail on the run. Headlamp to dim to see detail. Also the baseplate compass was much more cumbersome than the thumb compass. Thumb compass would have made it much easier with exit angles.

First 15 good. Wrong way round the bare rock to 16 and then too tight an angle to 18. Got to the wrong tree then saw a control on a tree to the South. It was # 13 so then knew where the right tree was. Big banana 19 to 20 also due to trying to use the base-plate instead of just going straight across the fairway. Allowed Cameron and the van Huysteens to catch me. Beat them all on the sprint finish!

Had no plan when I set off, so was easy up Komari. In Petervale I decided to do the 10k up Cowley. Felt good at Sloan and Main and had a decent pace to Witkoppen. Worked out I could do the 10 k part in under an hour as I went past St Peters. So had to work hard from there home to make up about 1:30 in 3k.

Good news is that I didn't throw up like last time. The pluses were
Much cooler.
Easy start
Going downhill was how it should feel!

Down Wilton past the park on right thru security. Straight on a block then left down to the veld.Along the fence to the gate where the parkrun splits. Got to the spruit crossing and had a choice between the low water weir and trying to rock hop across. I figured that there was a 90% chance of falling in completely so I sPlashed through the safe route.

Past the stables and a slog up the veld to Umhlanga.

Really felt the after effects of Saturday's parkrun. Struggled around at 6 min per k. Uphill was OK but no speed on the downhill and flat.
