Orienteering race 1:27:48 [4] *** 9.7 km (9:03 / km) +410m 7:28 / km
spiked:12/15c shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D ultra

Mohales north

The orienteering was fun and quite confusing at times. It was a lot funner than the long o. I thought the distance would be bad but it was pretty easy. All the training is doing me well, now I just have to keep this fitness up.

I started off nice and smoothly but then stopped too early at number 5, I think I lost about a minute there. I then screwed up 6, I think I was too high up. I did find a boulder which was the same size as the one which the control is on but only one of the boulders is on the map. My route into it was not very clever I angled up a hill and then tried to contour into the point feature. Was really stupid I should have either gone up really late and have a good view of the place or come straight down into the control. I think I lost three minutes here.

Nine was confusing but I messed it up because only one feature didn't match up with the map, I knew exactly where I was when attacking the control, but didn't trust my self when I saw a bushy, rocky area. Shouldn't have worried about the one feature that was weird and focused on the many features that did match up. The contours were also a bit weird in that area. I think I lost another minute. Its quite silly making mistakes like I did after orienteering for so long.

Beat paul by thirty seconds :) haha

Running 21:20 [3] 5.0 km (4:16 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D ultra

Was quite a nice route. The first four km were a breeze and came so quickly, there was quite a hill to the finish tho which I pushed a bit hard on, pretty good time I think I will easily break 20 this year.
