| Didn't enjoy this. Course wasn't the best in my opinion and a bit dodgy with using non fieldworked bits. Poor start, got caught by Tom at 2. Then saw Jack had somehow snuck past. Was with them at the controls which were round the wrong way. Think I got the first one ahead of them and worked out what was up, so went on. But screwed the next one which really made me wonder whether I was right. Eventually found it, went on. Fucked number 8 chronically, spent ages there and must have seen at least 5 people go past me. In the end it turns out I went within about 10m of it a couple times before running ages away to try and relocate, pretty frustrating. Caught Jack and Tane again at number 9. Ridiculous control really. Then busted through the mountainous terrain to 10. Saw Tom and Aaron so Jack and I sped up to try and catch them. Kept a reasonable pace from there to just before number 13, when I started to cramp pretty bad. Thought about chucking it in but thought I'd tough it out to the finish. Real slow from there. Stuffed after, and one of the most hungriest moments ever in my life. A bit of a mission all in all. |

| Day 1 of QB. Pretty long. Didn't find it that exciting and knew it wasn't really gonna suit me. Brent caught me up probably about 45mins into it and we ran together from there, on and off. Pretty low down the results in the end. |
 | Orienteering race (QB Sprint) 20:30 [5]**** 3.2 km (6:24 / km) | |

| Fucked up the first one, got caught by Neil. Went pretty sweet with him til 6 and 7 which I personally found decidedly dodgy. After that slowed down a bit, pretty pleased to still be not too far off the pace split wise and picked up a little near the end. Specially given I was bloody tired from the long in the morning. Thinking that JWOC Sprint might just be things coming together at the right time. Maybe.. Not that this was a great run, but I'm feeling quietly confident. We'll have to see. Think my speed is sweet as, maybe need a bit more speed endurance. |
