XC Skiing (classic) 3:50:00 [2]
Slice, La Femme and I hit the trails in the gats in the search of cute boys, oh I mean to train for the CSM. Great ski, no luck with the boys.

Friday Jan 4

Snowshoeing 1:30:00 [1]
Lovely snowshoe with Slice and Adventure M-A in Stony Swamp. We explored the forest following the myriad of deer tracks, the chirping chickadees and attempted to find the swamp I used to play hockey on as a child. There were all kinds of cool depression areas created from when the deer curl up and get their zzz.

Thursday Jan 3

XC Skiing (classic) 4:00:00 [3]
My mom nicely volunteered to pack my bag out so that I could go for a big ski and not need to loop back to the cabin for my stuff. I did the first hour with my sis, bro and his girlfriend along the snowshoe trail out of Lusk. The trail was really fun and gnarly with fluffy snow and creeks popping out to add some excitement. At the end of the trail I went off on my own to Herridge (for a much needed warm-up and snack break), then up the Ho Chi Minh trail to P17 then back to the car at P19. It was a long cold ski and no matter how hard I pushed I felt super slow. I'll blame it on the temperature (-28 with the wind chill)...

Wednesday Jan 2

XC Skiing (classic) 1:30:00 [2]
Family ski into Lusk form P19. I was very worried about running out of water so I carried in 9L, as well as some wine and dinner for 7 and fuel and cloths... My bag was pretty much a million pounds. I was doing more of a shuffle the whole way in and I didn't even get going quickly down the hills since my skis were totally bottomed out. We did drink all the water (and wine) and my burritos were a hit.
XC Skiing (classic) 1:30:00 [3]
My mom and I went out for a little ski around the Taylor Lake loop. It was so nice to be able to use some proper technique and see some glide. It cooled off near the end so we picked up the pace to get back to the warmth of the cabin.

Tuesday Jan 1

Running (trail) 30:00 [3]
Chilly run on the lake with the girls and Aaron. Guess we didn't drink enough in the hot tub if we were still up for activity the next morning. I wasn't super keen on the slush layer on top of the ice that made me feel like I would fall through at any minute. I followed behind Slice as she is braver than I.

Monday Dec 31

Running (road) 45:00 [4]
3rd anual Chuck Norris Adventure Session for Jerks. I didn't learn from last year's mistake of running really quickly and not reading the clues carefully. Phatty Jr and I ran very quickly in circles and missed a few key controls (including the funny picture of Trish) and ended up in dead last. Overall time was just over an hour but we spent some time standing around looking for stuff.

Sunday Dec 30

XC Skiing (classic) 1:15:00 [5]
Cool race simulation with my ski group. We had teams of 5 and each person went to a different checkpoint to collect a card. At the end of the race the team with the best poker hand wins. There were also prizes for fastest overall team and best costume. We had an all chicks team (including my mom) and placed second overall. It was the first time I've ever pushed really hard skiing and it was more fun than I thought. I did feel a little out of place though blasting through the gats and breathing heavily as most people were out for a leisurely family ski.
