| Went on a backcountry ski with Maya right from her house. The huge snow storm did not stop us but it did slow us down. The first half of the storm dumped a ton of fresh powder and the trails were hilarious. It took a lot of energy to climb even the slightest hill. The snow really started to come down near the end of the ski and going down penguin with your eyes closed is not the safest thing. I quickly grabbed a couple fresh cookies from Pete after the ski and then drove slowly home to hunker down for the night. |

| Day two of the snowgaine was a real treat. After seeing that a 'road' on the map really means that there is a road underneath 4 ft of unplowed snow we decided to switch to skis. I was especially keen on giving my body a rest from running. We were a bit slower in the bush trying to get up hills but the downhills were a blast. Such a gorgeous day to be on skis! And it was nice to feel strong again... Slice is a relative newbie to classic sking and was a star. We stuck to our planned route and hit all of the controls we were aiming for. A couple small mistakes but we were able to get back with a little time to spare. I did forget to punch a control but luckily it did not change our placement. We only left two controls out there (three if you're a stickler for rules) and came in second overall. It was a very fun weekend with the GTA crew! |
