Orienteering race 1:36:47 [3] ** 4.8 km (20:10 / km) +300m 15:22 / km
Red course at Tahquitz. A number of Orange level legs followed by a physically demanding jaunt into the un-fieldchecked part of the map. My plan this week had been to do my 9-mile long run on Friday, but due to other schedule conflicts I didn't end up doing it until Saturday. So unfortunately I was a little more wiped today than intended. My pace was slower than usual on the downhills and excrutiatingly slow on the uphills.

Saturday Aug 18

Started out sore again - both my left knee and right calf. I was hobbling along at an 83 pace/min. turnover rate. Eventually I got much more warmed up and felt better. I did two really high quality miles toward the end (miles 7 and 8) with a turnover rate of 88-90, then took it easy for a last cool down mile.

Once all the way around the field. My calves hurt a lot at the beginning, but eventually I got warmed up and was feeling pretty good at the end.
