Orienteering race (Sprint) 31:57 [4] *** 2.9 km (11:01 / km) +90m 9:32 / km

sprint race at Tucson Meet. Went pretty well, but slow. It's difficult to keep up a sprint pace for something designed for the elite men. I crashed about 2/3 of the way through. Also had a mistake at number 4. Went too high, finding parallel features that I thought were right until I saw control number 10. Then quickly relocated and attacked the control.

Orienteering race 1:02:31 [4] ***

Day 1 Green at Tucson A meet. Had a really nice day. The terrain was open and rolling. Mostly reasonable to just take straight line route choices with perhaps minor contouring detours to avoid a little bit of climb. I was ecstatic to see how high my result came out. I was certainly pushed by being close to both Kathleen Lennon and Kris Beecroft on the course. Kissy was just walking the whole way, but it was quite a power walk! I had difficulty catching up and passing her. No errors (although Winsplits flagged my split to the final control - probably just slowed down from fatigue).

Orienteering (Trail O) 1:00:00 [1] ***

I really didn't keep track of how long my course took on the Trail O. It was probably more than the time logged, but so much of it is spent standing or moving pretty slowly. This is really about the technical, not the physical training. I did pretty well, but once again failed to actually come out on top. Missed two of the 13 controls including one of the timed controls. And learned that you are supposed to be able to solve the timed controls entirely from the viewing spot (danged hidden Saguaro arms!)
