Orienteering race (Middle) 37:30 [4] *** 5.1 km (7:21 / km) +250m 5:54 / km
ahr:173 max:193 shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 340 2nd

WOC open course, wasn't going to do this as my legs were really sore, but thought stuff it anyway it looked like a cool map. Was just going steady for most of it, missed taking some good routes on 4 and 6 (white strips my ass) and was going ok, then was going into 10 where I thought it should be (slightly higher than where it was) and then started getting some stinging sensations, thought how the hell can stinging nettle be getting my back there is none around, and realised it was hornets and was getting stung more and more, took off downhill, basically tripped over the control and just kept going, ended up too low on 11 because of that, and then was in a bit of pain till the finish, which also caused my HR to climb quite high, ended up with about 7 stings on both arms, a finger and up my back.

Pretty cool orienteering in 2 countries on 1 course, and then watching Chris, awesome

Note

Shins absolutely killing me, sharp kind of pain. Went and asked Victoria (Oz physio) for a professional option, she was quite good, but more of the same story really, they are inflamed, need to ice, massage, do some strength and recommended 2 weeks no impact.

Orienteering race (Relay) 48:02 [5] *** 5.9 km (8:08 / km) +250m 6:43 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 340 2nd

WOC Relay, shat the bed physically, dont really know what went wrong, as I was stronger and fitter than I could manage, I was feeling good in my warm up and until the first control but after that I was useless and completely died on any hill. Still want to know what the hell happened going to number 1, I was in a que of about 15 people, put my head down to go through some green and then everyone was gone.... my control was only another 20m on and I never saw anyone. Made some small stupid mistakes as well, 2 of them being close to a min each, these were normally brought about by trying to use the others around me, which really should have been a warning in itself.

Really disappointed, have some things written down about what I did leading up to the start, will try to work out if something(s) contributed to this.

Note
(rest day)

Ordered to stay home for the Sprint Qual and rest up for the relay, didn't really work when my door was left open and you have one of the loudest teams staying all around you. Achilles quite tight in morning, and shins quite sore

Running 31:00 [3] +15m
ahr:158 max:193 shoes: Nike Air Zoom Triax+11

Run with Bryn and Ross, round and over to the track while mucking around doing some strides and stuff. Felt much better than earlier

Note

Spent too long in the sun watching the Middle Final, was feeling really sick when we got back, improved after some food and water
