Run the route of the new Green Line, aka Central Corridor light rail.
Been planning to do this sometime and today just worked out well. 95% concrete, so not something I'd want to do regularly (or maybe ever again), but I did have my mind set on doing it once. After the U of M I was able to run down the middle of track the rest of the way.
Many people out: lining up for Twins game at Target Field, Midwest Mountaineering spring sale, U of M students milling about, spring football game at the Gopher Stadium, very busy along University Ave through St. Paul, and finally the St. Paul Art Crawl.

Red. Good snow slog on the south side of the park courtesy of Erin and MNOC volunteers. Nice use of that end of the park. I liked the twists and turns.
I was sick to my stomach the last couple days, and just generally feeling weak, but didn't seem to effect me today. Maybe it was all in my head?
2. I went to low and had to back track up hill
3. Down to road, and then followed stream toward control.
7. Been to that boulder at least a couple times in the past, and I still forget about the ditch. It keeps the orienteering interesting.

April snowshoe. Forest was beautiful... covered with new fallen snow. Couple young guys were snowboarding down one of the only dirt trails around here. Looked like fun, but probably not worth the hike back up the hill.
Now have plan for next circus performance with another guy in my class. We walked through our routine together for the first time. It's rough, but we've got about a month to clean it up.

Long "run" for the week. Was going to do it Sunday, but the forecast for rain/sleet/snow made me think twice.
This was actually two runs, as I ran to circus for class, and then continued on with the run, Lots of concrete and snow. I ran in the snow covered farm fields by home, and it felt a hundred times better than concrete and asphalt. Looking forward to trails clearing up.
Took off my studded tires for "spring", so had a quick ride to circus and back.

Good workout. I was surprised how inflexible I was tonight when trying to do something that everyone else in our group can do. It's hard to explain: each foot is tied into a separate piece of cloth hanging from the ceiling, like a long rope, and your standing on that, suspending from the ceiling. then you go into a partial splits stance and wrap an arm around the fabric attached to the front foot -- for some reason I cant get my arm around that front fabric, but other people can. After trying for just a short time I was wiped out physically. It was a good workout -- but frustrating.

Warm up before O'. My training "plan" included a 11.5 mile run this weekend, so was hoping to do all the miles at O'Brien. Once I started running on the ice, snow and slush covered trails I changed to a time based goal instead: nominally 115 minutes. Managed ~108, which was just fine considering that my right leg is messed up some, and I was running harder than I would have at home on the roads.
With hindsight, i wish I would have brought skis out today. It would have been worth it to say I skied later in April than Steve O'. While these trails were slushy, they were otherwise covered and ski-able.

pfc Red at MNOC William O'Brien meet. Good use of this small area of the park.
2. planned to attack from the top, but a little to excite and ran down the road too much so had to back track up the steep slope - duh
5. took the route down road on east side of lake, which I still think was the better route
6. running down the creek bed leaving 5 I lost a show in the muck, so lost some time there
7. I went back to the road and cut through the forest a bit. probably would have been better to take the trail along the river?
8. followed tom p along the edge of the lake, but lost him before I saw the control
9. crested the bluff to the south of the control... not sure what I did wrong. not a big loss, but was confused when I figured out where I was
10. Ran road and trail, assuming the open fields would be deep with snow, but now know there was little snow in that area, so lost some time there
