I planned to ride my new bike around the 25 mile Green Circle in Stevens Point today -- first ride. I pumped up the tires after lunch, but when I went to get the bike to ride at 3pm, the back tire was flat. I knew there was a bike shop less than half mile away, so I walked it there to have them fix it. To my surprise the guy said he could maybe fix it tomorrow, which meant maybe the day after that. It would be a 10 minute fix for them, and they couldn't do it for a day or two??? There were at least three guys working there and the store was not busy -- I don't get it. This is a town that is trying to attract bike tourists? I bought a tube and tire spoons and changed it myself.
The other tube had been punctured by the sharp edge of a spoke hole in the rim. It should have been covered by the fancy tape inside the rim, but one was missed. I put a piece of plastic over it and then put in the tube. I then rode 29 miles on it and it held. I'll make a better fix in the next couple days before I go riding on single track at Standing Rocks.

Ride to Shakopee. It was warm, but managed to keep up a decent pace on my mt bike. Good to get some aerobic exercise after a week (so far) or retaining wall construction.

Afton 25k. Another in my series of long "races" that I'm not really trained for, but doing my best to have fun and come back in one piece. This was a good day, and succeeded in my goal.
While I've done this event a few times before, I've never run quite this course. The course has evolved over time and they've ended up with a good route. It covers most of the trails but they managed to get in a couple of long downhill sections, and a long stretch along the river -- all of which must have been very exciting for the fast runners today (this was some sort of USATF championship).
Three guys finished running under 6:30 miles. Richard Chin finished 35th out of 300 -- I did not know he was so fast!
Ropes and TRX workout -- "sprint training without the running" was how it was described to me. There is a guy that offers these one hour workouts 3 times per week at a community center near us. He had a free introductory class today -- who am I to pass up a free workout?
It was outdoors, so that was nice, but hot of course even at 8am. Doing this regularly would definitely help my running speed, but one speed workout a week would do about the same. I imagine I'll go back again periodically, but not on a regular basis.
