Note

We went to the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix today. It is only a couple years old but impressive. They have instruments from all over the world. I have a certain obsession with pop music history, so those were my favorite parts (like one of Buck Owens red, white and blue guitars). But lots off cool international exhibits too. We were there three hours before the kids had had enough, but the adults could have managed at least a couple more hours.

Weights 20:00 [3]

I was really expecting to be mountain biking here in AZ, but since my bike was stolen I'm lacking motivation -- especially to run from the door since it is flat concrete everywhere you look. But while lying on the floor watching the Vikings game I thought I'd better do something so I alternated sets of pushups and crunches. Probably close to 200 of each during the course of the game.

Note

My new mt bike was stolen off my van in the hotel parking lot in Gallup, NM.

I agonized over buying one for a long time, and now I'll have to do it again.

Cycling Road 1:05:00 [1] 8.3 mi (7:50 / mi)

Errands to CVS and Menards. Dressed just right for a mellow ride. Forgot to put my garmin on though.

Note

Family all has the flu this week. I'm the only one that got a flu shot this year, so hoping it won't hit me.

Would really like to go skiiing before the rain tomorrow, but not time. So sad.

Circus 1:30:00 [1]

Another great workout. Did some new tricks on trap, web and silks. Some of those tricks had me bending backwards in ways that my body was not prepared for. Need to work on flexibility in a serious way.

(Did not bike to circus class for the first time in many months. I was not quite ready for the snow covered roads, but with hindsight it really didn't seem bad. Maybe next time. It's a nice aerobic warm up before the anaerobic circus workout)

Snowshoe 57:22 intensity: (1:23 @0) + (4:50 @1) + (29:01 @2) + (20:13 @3) + (1:55 @4) 2.35 mi (24:25 / mi) +31m 23:27 / mi
ahr:120 max:150

First snowshoe session of the year. Ended up chatting with neighbors, helping people push their cars out of the snow, and when I finally got to the forest, I walked most of the time because of deep snow.

Beautiful in the forest. I don't recall a night like this before... so much light, thick snow on bending branches. Very nice.

Also the first session with my new Garmin Forerunner 305!

Cycling Road 20:00 [1] 3.5 mi (5:43 / mi)

Bike to No Name 80.

Cycling Road race 2:40:00 [3] 27.0 mi (5:56 / mi)

No Name 80 with CB and Brad. We were out there a long time, but I saw at least four people come in after me. Winner I heard was 1:33.

Long route from Father Hennepin Park to Brownie, straight south to where Beard crosses Minnehaha Creek, east to Grass Lake and a point south of Crosstown on 28th, then to the old buildings in Upper Fort Snelling... finally to Chatterbox in Highland for the finish.

Garmin is in for repair, so guessing at the distance. The setter said it was around 25.

We really only made small mistakes, but with such a long route the fast guys just got that much further ahead of us. Beyond a couple of extra cold toes, it was a great ride.

Cycling Road 25:00 [3] 5.5 mi (4:33 / mi)

Ride home from No Name (Chatterbox to home)
