2015 All City Championships
I finished in one piece (well, some minor cuts) and happy... that's the main goal. (Many people did not finish).
My route choice was OK. Made some last minute changes after talking with Stephen R on the group ride to the remote start. Actually, I first helped Stephen because he didn't believe one of the rules for this year, but he adjusted quickly (and came in ninth place). He in turn gave me some good ideas which I put into action.
Stephen said the winner biked 35+ miles, I just hit 38. I don't think I had 2 to 3 miles of mistakes in my route, so the winner's route was significantly better. The event was advertised at 25 to 30 miles, so 38 was long for me... it'd be long any day.
One of the stops was the sand beach on west side of the river between Lake and Franklin. I made it down there fine, but tried to go up the trail to Lake street, and the trail is seriously closed. I even made an attempt to literally drag my bike on the steep slope around the construction, but it was a waste. Between steep slope and buckthorn it was a disaster. I ended up dragging he bike up the bluff to West River road a bit further north. Lots of leg cramps after that.
Good ride.
(Over 50 miles biking for the day... might be a record for me).

Grass run to test calf/achilles. It is fine... no problem... until I start running. Walking and biking are not a problem. But running - no way. Doctor visit today.

Part III of my quest to bike all the designated bikeways in St. Paul. JSD joined me tonight, even though he'd already done this section. The most surprising bit in this section was Furness Parkway which I don't recall ever seeing before.
