Winter Triathlon National Championships :-)
5k run on mostly pavement: 29:26 (3.43 miles, pace 8:36)
Transition: 1:44
17k fat bike on snow, ice, grass, pavement: 1:09:02 (11.95 miles, pace 5.8 minutes/mile, speed: 10.34 mph)
Transition: 0:39
2 mile run (was supposed to be 7k ski) on ski trails: 17:41 (1.96 miles, pace 9:02)
Good fun, even with the lack of snow. Skiing after run and bike would have been interesting. Unfortunately the skate deck was solid ice with a dusting of snow over it, so no way we could ski.
They had five year age groups for the National Championships with top 3 placing in each. Few age groups even had three people. But the mens' 50-54 and 55-59 had 4+, and I suspect, more than any other age groups.
Plenty of MNOC people could have been on this podium if they would have shown up. I think I heard next year it will be the world championships -- but maybe not?!

49th of 62 overall
53rd first run (and I thought I went out too fast)
48th bike
39th second run
No podium - they don't make 'em big enough for me!
6th of 6 in 55-59 (and I'm not actually quite 55 yet - sigh) First place in that age group came in 6th overall ... he drove in from Wyoming -- clearly he is the real deal and deserves to be called national champion!
