Orienteering race 1:43:16 [3]
Half Minnegoat. No major mistakes, but had to walk most of the time to stay connected to the map. I had big problems at last years half Minnegoat and so started out being very cautious. I had half-halfheartedly intended to do the full goat this year, but was afraid I'd be out there for four hours and still not finish. After messing up bad last year, I didn't want another bad day. I don't feel good about the decision to not do the full goat this year, so maybe that wasn't the correct choice.
It was exciting to watch the lead finishers come in on the full goat, but humbling to see them finish the entire course in the time I took to do the half. I need to be able to move faster in that sort of terrain, if only a little. Also have to learn to embrace, and take advantage of, a mass start. Clearly need some attitude adjustment for that.
