2012 MNOC Rogaine set by Biz and Mo. It was a great day.
It took us one hour to find the first two controls, but after that things went much better. We didn't plan to run much, and it was probably a good thing as was difficult to navigate proficiently in many areas because of the varied vegetation.

Overall the course seemed tougher than other ROGAINEs I've done the last few years. Biz mapped and used some "red" control sites in areas where the other features of similar size were not mapped, so it seemed like we had to search around for some controls. It was also difficult to get used to the 24k scale map. It looked like an orienteering map, but there could easily be many terrain features between contours that would throw me off so I jokingly told Todd the "contours may be indicative of terrain in your area" (it seemed funny at the time).

Most teams were a little slower than last year so we still placed well, but got edged out by the Team GB swimmer and his partner -- and we probably won't live that down for a long time. But its nothing that more training wouldn't take care of.

Note

Today I added GPS tracks for two bike rides last week. Both were excellent rides -- on semi-urban and the other mt bike -- in Stevens Point, WI.

Running Trail (mostly trail and grass) 30:14 intensity: (25 @1) + (6:09 @2) + (22:34 @3) + (1:06 @4) 2.7 mi (11:11 / mi) +42m 10:40 / mi

Easy run in the 'hood. Woke up in hotel bed yesterday and my lower back muscles were all messed up -- for no apparent reason. Although I think lack of activity has something to do with it. Hope to be back to normal before Saturday's ROGAINE...
