Cinco Du Mayo Duathlon - Run 3, Bike 20, Run 3
Did this on a whim. The woman that coaches our boot camp class at work is proprietor of Tri-Fitness and they put on this event. She said "you should do it", so I did (I just do whatever people tell me to do)
The smoke in the air early this morning was worrying, but it mostly cleared. Otherwise it was a perfect day. More wind than you might like, but you get it coming and going so I don't mind that.
The only problem I had was my gluteous maximus started to hurt while biking. It was not saddle soars, but more like lack of circulation. If I stood up and pedaled for 20 seconds it would get better quickly. The last third of biking it hurt enough to be a big distraction. On the other hand, my speed for the 2nd loop was very close to the first. Riding 20 miles non-stop was new for me. Clearly I need to do something different, but not sure what yet.
A few people passed me on the bike, and I think I caught them all on the run -- if only because they were walking :-) Good thing I did too or I would have had a DFL finish.
Great workout. Would try it again.
