Running race 1:33:04 [5] 21.1 km (4:25 / km) +500m 3:57 / km
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS7

Googong half marathon. I hadn't slept well all week so felt a bit run-down even before the start - but the sun was out and it wasn't too cold so by the time I was warmed up was ready to give it a go. Started alongside acejase and after 500m realised I'd better get up nearer the front of the field. The aging hippy was running some way in front with trev further ahead and then somewhere in the distance bazorak was flying. Was fiding the hills fairly easy on the way out and gaining on the field with each uphill then trying not to lose ground on the level and downhill. Managed to get past a few poopel using this method. Just before the turn Dave Baldwin went past moving quite fast. I took a split just after the turn (which was at 11.1km) of 49.22. I could see a string of punters in front seemingly ripe for being picked off on the hills but I was beginning to pay for attacking the hills and my pace was slowing a bit. At one point thought I was going to get up to the hippy - but he had a bit of a second wind and began to move away again with about 5k to go. Was beginning to feel a bit light headed - was probably dehydration and a cold head from the wind.I looked at my watch at the last drink stop and saw 1h30 min - in fact this was 30 min since the last split but i didn't realise this and was wondering where all the time had gone and was it going to be 30 min to the finish - figuring I wasn't going to do a great time and not feeling all that good by this time I decided to just hang on to my place as well as I could. Rounded the corner to the finish and the clock was on 1h32 - then I realised the watch reading error. Was stuffed at the end - this is what comes of not doing a long run for a while, but the sangs and jelly beans laid on the the actccc made it worthwhile. Bazorak was on fire - there was the occasional glimpse of him leading by miles.
