A new year's day long run, Started off in the same direction as earlier in the week, but avoided a bit of road on the way to dob park by taking a footpath across a few fields. This was a taste of things to come, starting with a section of pooled water on grass and ending up as a muddy laneway. Down to the pack horse bridge then headed upstream to swinsty reservoir. The mud here was on another level, and there were several places where it was foot-deep wet clay. I decided that this was good strength training and plugged on through it. There was a sharp contrast once I got the track round the reservoir which was packed with from harrogate out for their sunday stroll in their posh wellies with their off-lead dogs. I don't think my shoes and tights coated in mud and other farmyard substances quite fitted in. Enjoyed the nicely surfaced track round the reservoir then headed back down through the mud to lindley wood reservoir then back over the hill through farnley. It never got warm, and towards the end the rain got very heavy and cold, so was glad the run wasn't longer. Pace-wise this was not too bad considering the slow going in places and didn't feel completely stuffed at the end. Had to peel off the tights in the porch so as not to risk another bathroom carpet incident!
