Running race (Runner's shop 10k) 38:52 [5] 10.0 km (3:53 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 14

Not feeling 100% but decided to have a run anyway. There was a big turnout but not many cockies there this week. There was a fair bit of wind which started off as a tail wind for the first three ks. Kept gramps in sight and got elbowed out of the way by jackie fairweather early on. Managed to get past a couple of runners before the first turn. Running into the wind went quite well, and I got to 5k at 18.58. Saw that smithy was not far back at the last turn so picked it up in the last k, was happy with sub 39. Not sure if this would have been quicker than miss jones or the hoggster.

Orienteering long (Jim Sawkins Me'mial H'cap) 1:28:24 [3] 14.2 km (6:14 / km)
shoes: HH trailcutters

Was a bit unsure about backing up after yesterday's run with a long orienteering course. The event was at timbertops which meant the running was going to be fast and as acejase was doing red 1 I thought I should too. Set off at a fairly steady pace on the first loop and was feeling quite in touch with the map and finding the running was OK. The navigation on each leg was good, with a bit of wobble towards the circles. Coming into the map change I spotted acejase a few hundred metres away, then caught him with his pants down (literally) between 5 and 6. From there the lead see-sawed, I'd pull away a bit during the leg then he'd catch up at the control. Was good to be running with someone else around as it kept the motivation up a bit. Had to work hard on the last leg after drifting off the line. Turned out to be a good run and was happy with my running and navigation. It was also good to be quicker than Miss Jones.
