Mountain bike (Giant one-hour) 1:00:00 [3] 16.0 km (3:45 / km)

Single tracks on O'Connor and Bruce ridges. Really quite green out there at the moment especially in the regrowth areas. Called it a day when I found myself on a track I'd already ridden earlier on.

Mountain bike (HFW) 40:00 [3]

Thursday Oct 8, 2009 #

Running intervals (bilbys) 25:00 [4] 5.6 km (4:28 / km)
shoes: kayano 15

Back to Bilbys, a bit sluggish so did medium of 2x600, 2x1000, 2x600 with 200m recoveries. The grass is a bit long but doesn't account for the 10sec of lost speed.
Splits:
2.15, 2.19, 3.54, 3.53, 2.19, 2.18

Bilbys warm up warm up/down 40:00 [3]
shoes: kayano 15

usual stuff.....

Mountain bike (HFW) 50:00 [2]

Gave bilbys a miss as it was first night of the novice program and hence likely to be hectic. Also have skin missing from my ankle from o shoes, so a nice cruise through blackie and the ridges was just right.

Note
(rest day)

A day off spent building a new mailbox to replace the one that disappeared last week along with quite a few others from my street. Perhaps I should have consulted the Hoggster on the design. Planning a schedule of mountain running for the rest of the year.

Orienteering race (Aus relay) 1:06:00 [5] 6.3 km (10:29 / km)
shoes: jalas o shoes

Not much to write home about here, a bit slow off the start as usual then followed the field over what I thought were the two slabs of rock before the control only to find the wrong control. Lost 6 mins or so here. Saw the leaders finishing the first loop as I headed onto it. Got it back together fairly well with an error at 6, slow to 8 as I was being careful then a bit of time near the end when I stopped to check that one of the juniors who had taken a fall was OK. A bit messy in the last two controls as well. Felt like I was orienteering quite well but not confident or strong enough running in the terrain.
