Adventure race 3:15:00 [3]

I was on a team with Gary and Danielle, we had an early start to get the bikes dropped off then headed down to the cotter. Lots of cockies and bilbies there for this. The start was a 300m run to the bikes, so everyone was pretty much in a pack when we go on the bikes. We got up the hill pretty well and gary headed off on the single track while danielle and I went to the control. This turned out to be a mistake as quite a few teams split up to get a few controls each on the single track. D led us round the orienteering legs really well and we picked up quite a few places. We were neck and neck with keith conley's team. Back out on the cotter road we gary got on the front and we got down to the bridge at high speed then had to wait ages at the lights. Next was a tubing section down the river, there weren't any big tubes left so got a lot of bashes on the legs from the rocks just under the surface. Keith's team got past us here again. The kayak was the hardest part for me so luckily it wasn't too long, I was basically the passenger in the middle of the g&d express. We got past keiths team again and a few others too. There was quite a bit of carnage with loads of novices on the river who couldn't steer. Then there was a final swim across the river which was pretty tricky in the strong current. We missed out on doing the extra leg, much to our relief.
A fun event to do for a change, and great organisation from the aroc crew, and would do one again.

Mountain bike 1:00:00 [3]

Another easy day, rode from work to the bilbys world championships at lake ginninderra. This was followed by a bit of hanging around then a couple of laps as lead bike on the run course, a couple of sausages and then riding home as it was getting dark.
Got final instructions for the AROC from Danielle, 6am sharp start on saturday, and I have to practice shoe changes so there's no hanging around in transition!

Running intervals (Bilbys) 27:00 [3]
shoes: nike lunareclipse

Just did an easy set of 6x3min at bilbys, was a bit slower than fast kate which seemed about right.

Bilbys warm up warm up/down 35:00 [3]
shoes: nike lunareclipse

Gary was a bit late so we all stood around like brown's cows until he got there. Then a slightly shorter than usual warmup. Did a couple of laps cool down with fast kate which were almost as quick as the intervals
