Orienteering race 55:39 [4] 5.4 km (10:18 / km)
shoes: brooks cascadia

ACT middle at collector hill. This wasn't too bad navigation-wise, lost 3 or 4 mins on 2 (went too far up the slope) and 7 (too far down) but otherwise was uniformly slow. Hoggster went past towards the end and I managed to hang on most of the way to the finish.

Swimming 1:00:00 [3] 2.3 km (26:05 / km)

Bilbys swimming at civic. Hadn't been for a couple of weeks, the water seemed to have got worse since then and was pretty much crawling out of the pool. I did the main set then decided an hour was enough, which was a good decision as the rubber bands had appeared on the pool deck. Swimming technique still based on the windmill principle.

A bit quicker today

Running 15:00 [3]
shoes: kayano 17

From work to miss jones and dc froggas place. Ran into gramps who was riding home so had a bit of a chat with him on the way.

Running (WNT) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: kayano 17

Good flock of cockies for the WNT, sebba, miss jones, grantm, lizzie, schmolle, geoff and alj. Not too cold, but it was time to break out the new ayups which seemed to perform pretty well. We did an hour on bruce ridge with a bit of single track then back for yummy pizza followed by ice cream, oreos and m&ms.

Running 11:00 [3]

Run home after dinner - a bit slower than miss jones predicted due to a full belly

Running (IW) 45:00 [3]
shoes: nike lunareclipse

Morning run into work with a backpack. Passed ALJ, mace and lucy who looked like they were doing gate to gate intervals on bruce ridge, then went into black mountain and found the track to the top of little black. At least one tomato didn't survive the trip, luckily the juice just went on my towel. Legs were a bit uncooperative to start with, but improved as the run went on.

Running (HFW) 20:00 [3]

no bilbys tonight, so just a run home. At one stage it looked like I might get a new dog to keep oscar company

Running long 4:03:00 [3] 36.0 km (6:45 / km)
shoes: kayano 17

Long run from ororral valley with rob and grant all carrying matching inov8 backpacks. The plan was over the alpine walking track to cotter hut, along the valley for a while then back over the ororral fire trail. Rob had done extensive research on google earth and walker's blogs so we knew what we were in for. First was a climb up to the walking track, familiar from the mountain race, then onto the walking track which was a bit overgrown and had a few fallen logs to negotiate. Good views of the surrounding peaks at the top, then more of the same as we descended to the river. After a refill of water at the river and wetting our feet it was onto fire trails which made the running a bit easier. I was starting to feel quite sore in my knees and couldn't keep up, so the others got some good rests at each junction. By the last junction with about 7km to go I was having to take little walk breaks, running 1km then having a 100m recovery walk (was good having the gps on here). Was relieved to finally reach the walking track junction where things got a bit easier with a couple of kms descent before a bit of rolling track back to the tracking station. Great day for a run, and enjoyed the first half!
