Running 1:17:53 [3] 14.81 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: brooks cascadia

Had been avoiding running as every time I looked outside for the last few days there seems to have been driving rain. So eventually I decided to htfu and head outside. Up Carr Bank then through dob park to the pack horse bridge. Went the wrong way here and ran up the river for a while as it was getting darker, eventually figured that I'd end up at Timble and then have a long road run in the dark so turned round back down to the pack horse bridge, this time going over it and down to lindley wood. I was pretty muddy by this stage having forded a few streams and ran on a lot of muddy paths, I think the cascadias won't be making the trip back to oz. By the time I hit the road it was getting a bit dark, so had to keep a lookout for cars. It was OK once I got to a footpath and I even saw another runner. The detour meant it was almost a long run in the end. Dropped quite a bit of mud onto the bathroom carpet when I got back so had to quietly get a brush out to clean it up.

Event: Chevin Chase

11 AM

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 2.76 km (5:26 / km)
shoes: brooks cascadia

A bit of warming up before the chevin chase, it was not v. Warm so I spent a bit longer than usual.

Running race 48:04 [5] 11.07 km (4:21 / km)
shoes: brooks cascadia

The chevin chase, an 11km that goes from guiseley and does a loop round the chevin. I didn't get in a very good position at the start so spent the first km working through the crowds on the narrow country roads. I chose the cascadias as there was a fair bit of sealed road. I was overtaking including a few Idle AC runners, until the first downhill section on the chevin where it got muddy and slippery so a few people went past. There was a lot of mud on the chevin so running got a lot harder, especially on the last little grind up the hill to the summit of the chevin. From here there was a massive headwind so although it was flat it was hard going. Crossing the last bit of farmland it was even wetter underfoot finishing with a big muddy puddle before the last bit of road. My legs were a bit tired going down the last bit of road, 48 was about what I expected, 57th I think. This was real crossy so the Canberra variety was not very good preparation. Will upload gps track later.
