Cycling long 3:17:00 [3] 100.0 km (1:58 / km)

Bilbys Saturday ride. It was nice and cool at the start of the ride, which was wallaroo, plus a few extra bits to make it longer. Felt flat to start but was ok once I got warmed up. Had a flat at the bottom of wallaroo which took a while to fix as the valve kept unscrewing. It started to get hot after spring range road, then Dave had us going at 55 along gunghahlin drive. I think the rest of the day will be spent lying down.

Swimming 1:20:00 [3] 2.8 km (28:34 / km)

Swimming with guy, kate and mel at dickson pool. I hadn't been swimming for about 18 months and the other three are speedy so my arms got tired pretty quickly. Good way to finish the day.

Running intervals 38:20 [4] 8.33 km (4:36 / km) +126m 4:17 / km
shoes: kayano 17

Thursday intervals with guy, ken, kate, keith and a random. We headed to the bike path, most people did 6 to 8 but I managed to knock out 10 of them at a consistent pace. Ken was mr inconsistent doing one at a sprint then spending the next three recovering. Was wearing kayanos which felt heavy and floppy.

It was a much cooler day than yesterday, so I went on the ACTrun lunchtime run along with hoggster, plastic, flan and john. It started as a lap of blackie than was going to feature plastic's new strava segment 'plastic hill' but once we got off the bike path flan suggested that we did toll (this is the doover crackenback but going to the summit). No-one wanted to look soft so we did that with surges on the uphill bits and then regrouping for plastic to catch up. Ran the downhill fast for some downhill practice, felt a few too many stones through the heels of the salomons, think it might be worth getting some lunar flys for cradle.

Running intervals 40:49 [5] 9.96 km (4:06 / km)
shoes: X-talon 190

A hot night for bilbys intervals and a tough set of 8 x 1km. I started with guy and darren running at what I thought was an easy pace - but it was way too fast at 3.34 and things gradually slowed down from there. Towards the end it was more about mental toughness and getting through the set.

Only 4 weeks until Cradle now, so this morning's run needed to be an extra long one. Woke at 5, but spent a bit of time sorting out gear and drinks so got the hackett gate car park just before 6. Saw robw's mate john there and titou, who were heading off in the majura direction. I'd decided to head for ainslie first and then decide how to get over to the back of blackie. Nice running up ainslie fresh and in the relative cool before the sun was properly up. Took the concrete track down and then went through commonwealth park for a pit stop then continued round the lake. Then up the AJMT, which I lost track of a bit, eventually emerging near the top of push bike hill. I was due to meet cejase and hoggster at the underpass, so ran down pushbike hill instead of going to the summit. I got there on the dot at 7.30, and had time for a drink of nuun before we set off again. Acejase wanted to do pushbike hill for 6FT training, so we headed up again, this time to the summit. Then down to the lake again while we discussed what running gear hoggster needed for his 40th, then back up the concrete track where we met stuey who was on an aimless run, so joined with us. I was at about 3 hours at the top of ainslie so we went down the eastern side and over hackett hill then up to the GMFT to add a bit more on. I was starting to feel the heat by this stage so was happy to stop there. The cold bottle of coke I'd left in the car was pretty good. Then onto deli marx for brekky (bacon included).
