Swimming at dickson, quite a lot of bilbys there, just an easy couple of km

Testing out an 'aero' position on the bike out to eaglehawk, seemed to work pretty well and didn't feel too folded up. Some kind of large insect crashed into me, so had a chunk of yellow goo on my knicks for the ride back.

Short run off the bike, tried to do the first km at 4 min pace then eased off, kind of achieved the min/km

Saturday Feb 6, 2016 #

easy ride out to lake george, conditions were good apart from a bit of wind

Twilight romaine from Aranda with Acejase and Frogga which meant we were a veterans team. The area wasn't that big, Mt painter to Blackie so we planned a route to clear all the controls. We set off with marty, bourney, craney and thomas in front of us with jase doing the nav with frogga chipping in when it was going wrong, frogga and I had the dibbers so had to go into each control while jase sorted out the exit direction. Good through painter, aranda hill and the west of blackie. We had a little out and back to the bottom of the kangaroo paddocks where I got dropped a bit and didn't have the extra gear to catch up, from there it was a pattern of me dropping back on the flat and downs but getting back on the hills while frogga smashed down the hills, including taking a fall. Acejase was on fire and leading the way most of the time. It was good to get back out into Aranda as it meant there wasn't far, and it looked like we were on for about 2.5 hours. We got back 3rd, 15min behind marty and 10 mins behind craney. Was completely stuffed by the end.

Vikings norman, although there was a big turnup only 4 of us put our hands up for fast medium. Then it was 3 when we dropped one on alexandrina drive, then just two of us after mugga. Steady pace after that.

An easy run on the ridge, with a lot of single track and dodging a few mountain bikes. There was also a massive snake, at least 1.5m that I ran past without seeing, but the riders behind me stopped dead in their tracks. Tapering for the big rogaine showdown on saturday...

evening swim with kate plus eliz and davO doing pool running. nice swimming in the rain, included 10x 100m, started on a 2 min interval then went out to 2.10

Cycling 1:17:15 [4] 41.58 km (1:51 / km) +302m 1:48 / km

Bilbys medium fast dunlop ride with a special guest appearance from prosseri. Started with a decent bunch but half of them got shed on william slim drive. Then there was a lot of time on slight uphills with trent, luke and I taking turns on the front with the rest of the bunch taking a siesta out the back then magically reappearing when it got flat again. Spent too long having coffee after again.

Bilbys intervals, 10x 600 at a steady pace. Also a new shoe night, another pair of subtly different la sportivas which did the job.
