Orienteering race (long) 1:15:37 [5]

finally managed to sort out the way to race at the moment. took it down a couple of notches and ran well until 8, smooth through the controls and really happy with my orienteering. disappoint to find out at the -2 box that we didn't have our first drinks point after all, as had planned that into my race plan and needed it to be able to run a good long race, would have taken my camelbak if i'd known in time.. never mind, good practice for when things don't go to plan...
my route choice for the long leg turned out to be terrible in the middle section and despite leading before it lost quite a bit of time plus by this time was starting to die physically. hel b got back past me again but was in sight leaving the control although i had nothing to give and she pulled away up the hill and i never saw her again. lost a lot of time round the last loop due to practically crawling up the hill but hit the controls fine although a couple of different routes would have suited by knackardness better.
again disappointed to not be able to run hard and race properly but did my best and happy with the navigation side of things.RPE: 8

Orienteering race (middle) 45:28 [5]

a good course but again didn't manage to get my race right and tried to run too hard for what my body can cope with at the moment. lost 10s to 1, 30s to 3, 10s to 7, 20s to 10, 5s to 11, bad route + 20s to 12, 20s to 16. feeling very demoralised and disappointed after and gutted to have been ill and not be able to race properly. coughing again after which wasn't good but parking in a field of hay probably didn't help

tried pretty hard to see how i felt but had a bit of a wander around at no 8 which was missing by the time i got there. realy good fun :)
coughing a bit after but not too bad.
it seems to be a trade off between less drugs = more hayfever but = less throat infections hmm.

Running intervals (track) 50:30 intensity: (3:00 @1) + (32:30 @2) + (6:00 @4) + (9:00 @5)
shoes: NB 1062

4 laps warm up then drills and strides on my own as late due to rubbish traffic. did 6 x 400m with 2.30 jog short lap in between each so never stood still. wanted to do 85s but after first knew it wouldn't happen so aimed for 88. super humid today and really hard work running. Soo good to be back on the track but quite depressing being sooo slow!
85, 87, 88, 88, 87, 88
4 long laps warm down
