Run race 2:02:52 [5] 25.0 km (4:55 / km)

25 km bush capital race organised by John Harding.
OK, so maybe I shouldn't have raced so hard yesterday - this race was tough! I didn't do it last year due to illness, and was looking forward to a good race this year, hopeful of a good time. I started out fairly solidly, and happy to keep the second-placed girl in sight in the first few kms, as well as running a lot of it with Sarah Buckerfield (we discussed the upcoming Majainslie hill there). I got into second place on Hackett Hill/Majainslie, then died a bit on the section at bottom of Mt Majura before the highway turnaround and fell into third. Sarah got a burst of speed up the hill after the turnaround, and we ran together for a bit (she even had the energy to chat with me... I could barely answer I was puffing so much), then she pulled away on the last 5 km and I lost sight of the girls ahead. Managed to run strongly to the end, but I was totally at my limits. A great race, one of the most fun (well since Googong), and I finished just ahead of my nemesis Cathy Crompton, with whom I had a great battle in the same race two years ago. Congrats all round to Sarah and Cathy. Top runs by Devil, Scotty and Lucy, and heaps of bilbys, especially Jess who dragged us to the war memorial cafe for lunch, good call. Thanks to John, too!
