Long run 3:00:00 [3]

2 laps of west basin plus jog to/from, which sounds boring but I really needed a mindless loop so that I didn't have to concentrate where I was running. Was determined to run for 3 hours and even staggered past my front gate to the end of the block just to make the time. It's all psychological I reckon, and this long run was to get my confidence up about "making the distance". Spent a fun afternoon recovering by re-watching the bombers beat west coast.

Run race 36:36 [5] 8.0 km (4:35 / km)

Cooleman ridge XC. Lots of people I knew which made it much fun. Very very windy down there. The amazing sneezing man was well back for most of it, I could hear him behind me nearly the whole way.

Run warm up/down 35:00 [3]

warmed up by jogging along the hillside where the old pines used to be, also did a warm down.

Run 45:00 [3]

bilbys, 8 x 800 m with about 50 m recovery. Couldn't stick with Susie tonight but quite happy with maintaining a steady pace. 2 warm downs, first with Susie, then with Gary and Jess.

Bilbys 45:00 [3]

6 x 300 m (100 recovery) then 7 x 600 m (200 recovery). Tried not to start too fast so I would have enough energy to finish sensibly. This set felt really long, must have been running slowly. No Susie tonight :( but fun to run with Peter in the warm down.

Swimming 1:00:00 [3]

Tuesday Jun 3, 2008 #

Bilbys 45:00 [3]

3 x big laps of the oval (about 1 km) with some loopy kind of recovery followed by 4 fast "lengths" (with the "widths" as recovery). Did the recoveries a lot quicker than normal because I wanted to get out of the rain asap. Horrible weather but the bilbys are good company, and Gary's always cheerful no matter what the weather so in the end I was glad I went.

Note
(rest day)

Legs felt OK this morning but got more and more tired as the day wore on.
Looked at my XC results on the web and found out that I did the 9.5km mt ainslie run in 2002, finishing in 49:25. Compared with last week's time that means I'm 6 minutes faster than I was 6 years ago. I wonder how fast/slow I will be in 6 years time?

Long run 2:36:00 [2]

Start of marathon training today.
Long run over Mt Majura and round Ainslie with a very flat finish via the lake and the uni. Felt a bit tired going up up up Mt Majura but the rest was OK. Bumped into devil at the XC yesterday and he decided to join in today but didn't see much of him up the mountain, he was waaaay in front. Luckily he was stuffed at the end and I could keep up with the pace then.

I just read Blair's log and he did a long run for exactly 2hrs36 as well. Wow how good is that.
