the metaphoric dark cloud that was hovering over me all day became literal when it started pissing down at dicko ovals. struggled round the medium set of 5 x 1 km (200 easy), felt like really hard work tonight.

rode to work the quicker way over comm bridge, ripper morning, and home via the western bikepath. My new headlamp is awesome. A giant kangaroo gave me a fright by jumping across clunies ross street from black mtn towards the uni directly in front of me. lucky my brakes work.

Easy run 30:00 [3]

very slow jog this evening round the suburbs, only because I wanted to try my headlamp running. My quads are killing me - could hardly walk down stairs today and they're actually sore to touch. Cycling doesn't bother them, it's only running on slightly uphill/downhill bits that really hurt and movement is a bit restricted. Very bizarre. It feels like I've torn every muscle from my hips to my knees on both legs.

Long run 2:10:00 [3]

super long run with miss jones, constable, mace, ben, and devil. mace and ben turned back at the bottom of majura so it was small group from the start. I lost sight of the other three almost immediately in the fog so had to hurry a bit getting up majura. this wasn't so good for my legs, because my quads cramped up severely at the top. I considered pulling out of the run but the others kindly slowed the pace for the downhill section, and we went round the flatter bits of ainslie, where grant dropped off and headed home. devil led miss jones and I on a fun adventure along some imaginary tracks along the side of ainslie and back to the hackett car park. lots of fun but quads really sore for most of the run. not sure of cause of cramp but could be because I stopped fairly suddenly at the top to tie up my shoelaces.

ride to/from work, nearly ran over a dog in the dark this morning but the dog was saved by its owner throwing herself in front of my wheel. luckily my brakes work. it was a bit stressful though.
have found a new route home via the embassies which avoids the dark lakeside bikepath but goes up a massive hill on stirling ridge.

ran along the side of black mountain, then around little black mountain, at lunchtime. legs moving quickly today. saw my boss and another colleague at the start of my run so sledged them about the upcoming googong half.

lunchtime run round bits of blackie. I think I went over the doover crackenback but since I'm never sure exactly which this track is, I'm not 100% sure. anyway finished up going round little black mtn, solid run, much quicker than I used to do this run, felt quite good at the end

long run with cockies from hackett, up mt maj, lots of single track through the pines, over hackett hill and up the tricky track. kept getting dropped by the breakaway group of shan, devil and grant but thankfully they waited at the top of ainslie. deli marco was yummy I thought. not too tired after this run so time to smash out the training before the googong in less than a month

An entertaining run through yarralumla and along to the GG's house, then up Dunrossil drive (did 2 laps of this). Two big dogs caught up to me and followed me for part of the run but I soon got tired of them getting under my feet and jogged in reverse for a while to try to find their owner, but no sign of him/her. Eventually I managed to pass the dogs onto two unsuspecting runners going the other way. I think the dogs were runaways. Legs a bit tired after this run. But not as tired as they'll be after tomorrow's hills.

Winter's finally arrived hasn't it!
Did the medium set of 1 x 1600m, 2 x 1200m, 1 x 800m
splits = 6'43 (1st km was 4'11) (2'12), 5'06 (2'17), 5'10 (2'16), 3'22.
Nearly piked on going, but glad I went, it was good fun despite the chill factor. Legs felt quite quick for once, too.

run round black mtn including several hill sprints to find a good place for intervals on thursday. legs stuffed afterwards. anybody who doesn't come on thursday morning is soft. it's only going to be about minus one degrees, not cold at all......(!)

jog to csiro through o'connor and bruce ridge along some tracks I'd never been on before. beaut day for it. some soreness in my legs after yesterday's hard run. glad my sore ankle has stopped hurting now.

Run 34:45 [5] 8.0 km (4:21 / km)

8 km XC at Weston Park. Jogged down from home which was a good warm up. A good hard hitout, ran solidly the whole way but a bit slower on the second lap. On the first lap I had a good battle with another girl but she pulled out at 4km then on the second I tried to catch a girl ahead who was cutting corners left right and centre. Eventually got her on the hilly bits at the end but she out-sprinted me over the line. She's about 20 years younger than me anyway so not too worried. Happy with the race, but it was very hurty.
1st lap = 17'08, 2nd lap = 17'37

Run to work via Black Mtn, the flat tracks round the back. Legs not working so well on the uphills today and went fairly slowly all the way. Getting good at running with a backpack.

Cockies intervals set by GrantM with Lachy, Devil, ALJ, GrantM and Fel. It was really fun, although challenging to run quickly on the uneven ground. I used to hate running in the mornings but now it's my favourite time of day for training. Warm up and warm down through the streets of lyneham to the hockey centre and back.

Run to work, along the bike path on the western side of the lake. Pushed it hard at the end and managed to crack the hour by 2 seconds.

short jog round the bike paths and up to dunrossil drive. a few other walkers about and only a couple of other runners today. one day I will have time to visit the cafe at the shops, it looks lovely and warm in there.

whistle set, my favourite. I did the medium of 5 x 4 mins.
good fun, especially with Fel's company on the recovery. It took me until the last one until I could catch her though!

Ride to work 38:00 [3]

rode to work, good fun, nice and easy
feeling quite good today, I hope it will be a good week of training but have an eye on the weather since rain is forecast

Note

ran some errands in town so bussed it home. not as fun as the bike but certainly entertaining
