Run 1:20:00 [3]

could have used a few more layers on this run. Good to get out and about, though. A fine layer of snow on the ground, not enough to worry about, but it looked pretty.

Note
(rest day)

not motivated for running today, especially when I looked out the window and saw it was snowing.

Note
(rest day)

too busy packing, partying, and saying goodbye to my friends here. It was a big day.

Run 1:15:00 [3]

Early in the morning but for some reason not as cold as yesterday. Powered round one of my usual street routes, a bit boring, but I didn't mind today because it took me ages to warm up properly. My left hammy was complaining for a while.

Run 1:30:00 [2]

Minus 3 degrees today so I wore two layers of thermals plus an extra top. Didn't run very fast at all and I enjoyed it despite the cold. I saw a few friendly runners and MTBers too including one guy without a beanie. Crazy man.

Run 1:25:00 [4]

This was a surprisingly good run today. It was only about -2 degrees when I started, so I ran pretty hard to avoid being out for too long, but then the sun came out for a short time which was very nice. I think it will stave off the rickets for another week. :)
I felt good except for the last 10 mins when I got a stitch and so did the last bit as a "cool down" (literally).

Run 40:00 [2]

Cold and dark this evening, with a bit of drizzle, wasn't too motivated for much more.

Run 1:00:00 [2]

Very easy run this morning - I'm a total slacker this week so I waited until the sun came up.

Run 50:00 [3]

It was cold, dark, and raining for this run, so I hot-footed it round the streets as quick as I could.

Run 55:00 [3]

I ate at an Ethiopian restaurant last night which was very yummy and gave me lots of long distance running power for this morning.

Run 1:00:00 [2]

felt well again today, struggled to breathe a bit, but otherwise quite OK.

Note
(sick)

Still smashed by this cold that doesn't want to go away - muscles and joints are all achey now.
Time to get better and enjoy some Christmas cheer I reckon. Bring on the weekend.

(sick)

I have a bad cold today. Must have caught it from reading acejase's trog last week.....

Run 2:00:00 [3]

After yesterday's menagerie, I kept to some wildlife-free paths alongside the river. One of the paths along the river was directly on the border and goes past an old section of the wall. Today I discovered that the piece of wall has now been preserved as a memorial and there is a little plaque naming the seventeen people who died while trying to cross the river. When I started running here, it took me a long time to realise that my usual weekend forest runs cross between the former east and former west regions, and that it would not have been possible to run there a few decades ago.

Today I took it pretty easy, just bumming around really.

Run 1:50:00 [3]

Quite a long one today because I was keen to get off the streets and out along the muddy tracks.

Lots of wildlife out today - couldn't believe my eyes when I came across a snake on the bike path - yes a SNAKE. As soon as I saw it, I jumped backwards and backed away a few steps. Then I checked to see if it was alive by lobbing sticks at it (it was). Luckily some walkers came along then, and we all had fun looking at the snake, which didn't move much at all. And then another runner ran past and said "oh look a snake" and ran right beside it. I remembered that robw once said that the worst thing European snakes can do is give you a cold, so I ran the gauntlet and quickly hopped past it too.

Later on, on the way back out of the forest, I came across a herd (is that the right word?) of wild pigs, so I had to do a bit of a detour. There were at least 10 of them, all black, but that's all I saw before I ran the other way.

And to top things off, as I staggered up the stairs in my apartment building, I was confronted by a big dog that barked and didn't want me to get past! It's owner was visiting somebody in the building and fortunately heard the dog barking and took it away.

All in all it was an entertaining run. I felt quite good but I am not running very fast at the moment.
