Run 1:00:00 [3]

Bilbys, hot hot hot
Did the medium set of 10 x 400's with about 30-40 secs recovery in between. Not my best set, that's for sure, I think a combination of the heat and the Tour de Mtn in my legs made everything feel like a struggle. Good fun despite the struggle.

Note

Too tired and busy to even consider training today. But I did renew my XC membership and checked the 6 foot track waitlist so that sort of counts as a troggable training activity I suppose.

Run 2:12:23 [3]

Tour de Mountain 25 km
Up at the crackers again today - getting used to early morning starts now. Quite a big field of runners and cool conditions made it perfect for racing. I started out fairly conservatively up Taylor, quads cramped at the top so had to go slowly for a bit on the downhill and managed to get beaten by half the field. Even got sledged by Julie Quinn (are you just taking it easy Sandra? she said) so I lost a bit of confidence there, but got my own back on the slog up Wanniassa by overtaking quite a few people including my nemesis Cathy Crompton. Ran a bit quicker on the down hill then toughed it out over Isaacs Ridge, and really picked up the pace here. I knew Cathy would catch me if I slowed down, so ran as fast as I could back home again. Happy that I paced it well and ran strongly at the end. Best moment was running past Gary right at the end because he said I was "awesome", worst moment was getting spat on by one of the old XC men. At least he apologised. But it was still gross.
Ended up 14th girl, which is actually a really low placing compared to previous races. I didn't feel slow so maybe there's a whole lot of fast girls out there who I never get to run against.
Legs were really sore after this run, even when I tried to go to sleep at night.

Run 1:30:00 [3]

Had promised to do one more long run with susie before the end of this year, so did the saturday long run with susie's mum runners, with a very early start of 6:15am. We ran from O'Connor up around little black mtn, then up the steep side of blackie to the circumcision track, around it, then all the way up to the top. Tried not to run too fast so that I would survive tomorrow's long one but Annette and Kate set a cracking pace, had to run at the back with Susie. Great morning for it, though.

Run 40:00 [3]

girls group of cath, lucy, shan, and me, in the cool drizzle round parli house and a bit of lake bg. nice run, bit quicker than usual, good to catch up with the girls as always.

Run 25:00 [3]

I did a shannon-shuffle of about 20 mins round the suburbs, really slowly. checked out all the gardens on the way, it's a nice place, the inner north.

Run 1:05:00 [3]

6am run with susie's mum-runners group. Started out with 5 of us, but sam has a really sore leg and had to turn back at the first corner. The pace picked up, led by Anette and Kate, and Susie and I followed. We ran up to O'Connor ridge, then across Belco way with a loop around little black mtn, then back over the ridge and into O'Connor again. Good fun, and definitely worth getting up early for, mainly for all the gossip and funny stories from Kate, she's a crack up.

Orienteering 55:27 [3]

Orange 1 at Mt Ainslie. Had hoped to not run, seeing as I was rostered to help and it was very hot!, but in the end I wasn't needed to help at all. Didn't feel like I could get away with running O2 twice in a row so decided to attempt orange 1 even after seeing it went over hackett hill twice. Had a good run, but really slow to the first three, then managed to be a bit quicker I think, despite the hills. Got tired towards the end, though, and made a big mess-up at the last control, but otherwise very happy with the run, I think my navigation is slightly improving each week at the moment. Also feel like I'm running well.

Bilbys 1:00:00 [3]

hmmmm all that running on the weekend must be catching up with me, not feeling 100% today. No surprises there I suppose. Anyway struggled through the long set at Dicko ovals. It was a whistle set of 4 x 4 mins then 4 x 2 mins.

Good to do some of the usual stretches with Gary who "took one for the team" by sitting in the sun while the rest of us squished into the small amount of shade. Felt OK afterwards but generally tired today. The early start for Susies mum-runners group tomorrow is going to kill me.

BTW I've entered the long race in the Tour de Mountain.... had an request to run in a relay team with Parawangan Sue but had already committed to the long one.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

ride on the bike paths down towards the lake and along a bit beside the lake, nothing special, but nice to get some fresh air.

Run 2:38:00 [3]

Cockies christmas long run, which was a shortcut up maj, hackett hill, ainslie, then across the city up black mtn and back to hackett. Great fun, good group of the two grants, miss jones, devil, ben, robw, mace, catherine, davin, and alj and max even came along for the peaks and mary came for the coffee. The hardest bit was definitely black mountain but I took it slow and steady and managed to run all the way up the stairs and then up over the rocks. Enjoyed the flat bits through the suburbs too, running with grantm and then mace. Cordial and sweets were awesome, thanks guys :)

Run 2:47:00 [3]

long run with susie over mt maj, hackett hill, to the bottom of ainslie then up the concrete path, back over hackett hill, then up majura again to the saddle because susie was feeling good, and back home again.
great morning for a run, we both really enjoyed it, we seem to be running at the same pace which is good. quite tired after this one, though, so many hills today!

Orienteering 27:00 [3]

Orange 2 course down at Farrer ridge. Great fun, happy with all of it except getting too high at the finish and somehow missing the finish banner even though I ran past it earlier on. Quads really painful from yesty. Hmmm I think I will take the shorter option more often despite numerous sledges about running O2.... :)

Run 1:00:00 [5]

ouch, sprint training at bilbys with aaron - haven't done sprints for ages so it felt quite tough. Good fun though, really enjoyed it. Did 2 x 300m then 2x (6 x 200m). last two really hurt. good to do all the stretching beforehand, great warmup.

Monday Dec 7, 2009 #

Run 30:00 [3]

short run, black mtn for a bit, tired from the weekend but otherwise OK

Sunday Dec 6, 2009 #

Run 1:45:00 [3]

Long run with cockies from hackett. fast group today of robw, frogga, miss jones, devil and jase. Similar route to yesterday but more up and downs through the pines. Also lots of surging esp up ainslie. all was good until frogga led us on an imaginary track uphill through bush. my legs died and I had to walk a bit there. A top run, and deli marco was pretty good too.

Saturday Dec 5, 2009 #

Run 2:15:00 [3]

long run following the triple tri course with susie and sam up majura, through the pines, over hackett hill, up ainslie and back again through watson. pace was fairly cruisey, good fun. we all had tired legs when we went over the stile at the end.

Friday Dec 4, 2009 #

Run 52:00 [3]

girls run with shan and lucy from lucy's place, up to the track at the bottom of ainslie and along it for a while, then back home again. enjoyed the run, was really fun, but getting out of bed this morning was really hard. glad it's friday!

Thursday Dec 3, 2009 #

Run 1:10:00 [3]

ran round black mountain from home with a brief stop at work for one of my experiments. great morning for a run, didn't see anybody else out at all (must have been too early for the usual joggers). felt good on the run.

Wednesday Dec 2, 2009 #

Run 1:05:00 [3]

Run with the SFT girls (aka Susie's mum-runners group).
We all had the mood of a football team having lost the grand final re SFT but kept our chins up and put in a few surges round LBM. Looks like canby mara is on the agenda for some.

Run race 23:33 [5]

Weston Park XC, different course to last time. Good fun round the grassy bits and over the hills. Lauren Williams made me run fast, yay. Good choice of pizzas at debacle after (mostly by Jules and Mace I think)

Note

Attempted to enter SFT today but just missed out and got wait listed :(
I am kicking myself because I knew I should enter today, and even reminded devil to enter (though he prob knew anyway). In a weird sort-of-good coincidence none of my SFT training buddies made it either :(
