Long run 2:05:00 [3]

Long run today. Did a few laps of the park, then crossed the famous spy bridge and did a few laps of the neuer garten, and found a few paths I didn't know existed. Wasn't too slow but not exactly pushing it too hard either. And no hills.

When I got home I watched some of the Berlin marathon on TV for inspiration. It would have been a great day for quick running - cool and cloudy. It's taken me a whole year to get over the marathon from last year and be ready to think about another one. I reckon I might have a go at one again next year, but who knows.

Run 1:20:00 [4]

Great day for a run today - cool but not raining. Felt really fresh after having a few days with little/no running, so had a crack at a fast one. Stayed at a good pace the whole way, despite some residual stomach muscle tiredness from yesterday's swimming. Happy with my running at the moment.

Got the old "schnell schnell" catcall today. I was clipping along pretty well beside a busy road, when this guy in a truck slowed down beside me, leaned out the window, started banging on his door and yelling "SCHNELLER SCHNELLLLLLLERRRRR" (plus a few other words which I didn't understand but probably were insulting). His abuse was totally unjustified because I was going really well so I ignored him and mentally hurled abuse back at him. In some ways it was as if I was lance armstrong and he was my team car, but less friendly. The funniest thing was that he ended up copping abuse from all the traffic behind him which he was holding up. Tosser.

Run 40:00 [2]

run round the streets in the early hours because I am worried it will rain this arvo

Swimming 40:00 [3]

yep it rained, so it was back to the pool this evening.

got in quite a few good laps tonight until the kiddies started jumping off the diving board, then it was half laps for a while. It was a lot of fun today.

Note

I choose to rest today.

I am so out of touch - only discovered today that Hirdy's retiring and Sheedy's got given the boot. where are the new baby bombers that will bring them to glory next year?

I'm going for Port this weekend.

Swimming 40:00 [3]

got in a few good laps until the pool started getting crowded

then it became a battle to avoid being kicked in the chest by hefty fellows doing breaststroke. A bit of lane organisation wouldn't go astray.

one guy must have been swimming with his eyes closed because he kept smashing into people (and he wasn't even doing backstroke)

Intervals 24:00 [5]

I made up these intervals on the train on the way home:
4 x 3 mins (1 min in between)
4 x 2 mins (1 min in between)
4 x 1 min (30 sec in between)

Did all the intervals on a soft dirt track, not too rough underfoot
Felt really good doing the 2 min reps
everything is gold this autumn

Run 40:00 [2]

warm up and warm down

lots of other runners out and about
